Blessing of the Animals Service
This Saturday at 5:00 p.m. we will have our annual Blessing of the Animals worship service. All are invited!

Help celebrate Fall Festival with us!

Sunday Programming Continues
Our program year continues this Sunday! There are Sunday School classes for PK-5, Junior High Youth Group and Senior High Youth Group.  

Adults are encouraged to attend the weekly After Worship Hour activity of the week. Read more below in our Activity Book.

Wednesday Programming
Continues
Join us tonight, from 5:30 to 7:00, for dinner and fun! Registration is not required. Programming will include Wednesday night WPC Kids' Club, WPC Youth Wednesday, Confirmation Class and a new parenting class by Pastor Scott.

Bags Tournament This Sunday
Show off your Bags skills in our Bags Tournament this Sunday!  The tournament will be this Sunday at 11:30 on the front lawn (rain location: Commons). Participants face off against each other using standard scoring methods  
Peace & Global Witness Offering
The Peace & Global Witness Offering is received during the Season of Peace, which ends on World Communion Sunday, October 6. Help sustain the important PC(USA) ministries and programs that are supported by this important offering with your contribution. Envelopes will be in the pews this Sunday. If you’d like to write a check please make it payable to Westminster Church and put “Peace Offering” in the memo line.
New Class
Taught By Pastor Scott
Last Wednesday evening, September 11, Pastor Scott began a six-week class on Christ-Centered Parenting. Come to Simmerman Lounge at 6:00 p.m.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace
On Sunday, October 6, Westminster is partnering with a Des Moines non-profit organization called Sleep in Heavenly Peace. We will build beds after worship in The Commons.

The group was founded with the belief that every child deserves a bed of their own.
Anchor Coffee House Starts its Season October 5
On Sunday, October 5, at 7:00 p.m. Anchor Coffee House kicks off it's 2019-20 season with Bob Pace!
Recycle Crayons and Markers
Bring your broken crayons and dried up markers to Westminster during the month of September! The Children’s Christian Education unit is collecting these items to send for recycling until September 29th. You can place the broken crayons or markers in the large brown collection bins outside of the Sanctuary. Thank you for helping us to make a small impact on the world around us!

Coin Offering
Coins collected in the offering plate during worship are being donated to CROSS ministries this month to help with their school supply drive.

Collecting After-School Snacks for Monroe Elementary School
We are continuing our connections with immigrant and refugee families with our ministry at Monroe Elementary School, in the neighborhood. Instead of cereal – and the popular Cheerios - this year Monroe Elementary has asked for after-school snacks; e.g. fruit snacks, granola bars.

Group Information
Westminster is a fairly large church with nearly 1100 members. Small groups help bring the church down to a manageable size. We have numerous groups that bring together folks with similar interests. 

If you have any updates to this list, or questions about any of these groups, please contact Joan at 274-1534.
Young Parents Group meets the 3rd Sunday of each month from 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. They also have quarterly outings. Contact Kelcee Murphey at kelceemurphy@gmail.com if you have any questions.

Screen Time Parents Group meets the 3rd Sunday of each month after worship activity from 10:30 - 11:15 a.m., in the Tower Classroom.
Stitchin' Time   will meet on Thursday, September 26, at 1:00 p.m. in the Hope Alcove. Bring your current project and come to chat and stitch, knit, crochet, etc. 
Afternoon Bridge  will meet Friday, September 27, at 1:00 p.m. in Simmerman Lounge. Call the church office at 274-1534 if you'd like to join in!

Book Club will meet Wednesday, October 2, at 6:30 p.m., in Simmerman Lounge to discuss When Breath Becomes Air , by Paul Kalanithi . Learn more here.

Restaurant Group 1 meets the first Saturday of the month. Their next gathering will be Saturday, September 7, at 5:00 p.m., at the Urban Grill, 3651 86th St. Call Orval or Eleanor Knee at 276-0408 for reservations.

Men's Group meet weekly at 6:00 p.m. in the Seminary Center, as part of our Wednesday night programming. They will meet the first Wednesday of the month, beginning October 2, at 6:30 a.m., at the Waveland Café.
Empty Nesters' Group will meet again in October. Watch here for more information.
Pizza Lovers' Group meets the second Tuesday of the month. Their next gathering is September 10, at 5:15 p.m., at Godfather's on University, in Des Moines.
Men’s Basketball meets every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in The Commons.
