Dear Residents -
A lot has happened since we last "spoke." It appears that we have indeed "flattened" the curve with regards to COVID-19 and only time will tell if we will have a second wave. I hope that scenario does not play out. I am pretty certain many of us would find it difficult to go back into isolation again - even if for just two weeks.
We have witnessed a myriad of events over the last two weeks. I was saddened to see how events unfolded in Minneapolis early last week, made worse with the violence and destruction that followed afterword. None of it should have happened; we are supposed to be better than that. I will continue to pray for George Floyd and his family, for the law enforcement officers who are out there putting themselves in harm’s way to keep us safe and allow for peaceful protests, and for our Country to be able to move beyond this, to a better place and brighter days.
Stay safe everyone!

Kickstart Orangetown's Committee has been hard at work, trying to get ready for when walk-in business and bars and restaurants can re-open.
With Phase II scheduled to start on Tuesday, June 9th (PLEASE - check with
NYS first to make sure we have stayed on target) and the Governor adding Outdoor Dining to Phase II, the committee is putting the finishing touches on our signage.
AND -
SAVE THE DATE - as they have plans to celebrate big time. On Saturday, June 13th, there will be a car parade throughout Orangetown to acknowledge those businesses who have been allowed to re-open. It is still a work in progress - but we are driving through the Village of Nyack and the Hamlets of Sparkill, Tappan and Pearl River.
If you are not sure what phase your business falls in, or the requirements necessary to be in compliance, please feel free to check out our
webpage.
Thank you. We look forward to seeing you all on June 13th - I know we can't wait!

Orangetown Police Department
The Orangetown Police Department has asked us to remind everyone to PLEASE lock your vehicles at night. A few weeks ago, approximately 20 cars were either stolen or had items taken from the cars.
Unfortunately, all cars had the same problem - none of them were locked. And - unfortunately - once criminals have had a "successful" heist, they usually go back to the same area again.
Which is the last thing we need.
So please - lock and remove your belongs at night.

76th Anniversary of D-Day
|
It has been 76 years but few events have galvanized a population and stirred the imagination like D-Day. As dawn broke over the beaches, thousands of real-life “Private Ryans”, British, French, Canadians and Americans, left the relative safety of their landing craft and stormed ashore to begin the Liberation of France.
Of all the battles fought by United States in Europe during WWII, the breaching of Hitler’s Atlantic Wall is considered the most significant.
|
|
Take a moment to honor those who stormed the beaches of Normany on June 6th, 1944 and if you see a veteran, thank them for their service.
