October 2019 Issue

CPWC Members,

Happy Fall! September was a busy month for the CPWC; we were deeply inspired by our Past Presidents at opening lunch, marched in the East Cobber parade, renewed our CPR skills, kicked off a new Canasta card interest group, and thanks to the vision of Julie Lischer, enjoyed tea before watching the Downton Abbey movie together,  all in addition to our many usual activities!

This month we are "Celebrating the Home" and the decade of the 1970s for our daytime meeting at the home of Lisa Enoch. Mark your calendar for October 18th and come hear Heather Rees talk about our crafty history. She will teach us how to make the beautiful paper flowers you may have seen at opening lunch, and CPWC T-shirts will be available for $25, benefiting Children's Development Academy. If you would like to support CDA and are not interested in a shirt, cash donations are welcome. Also this month, the Savvy Evening Group will meet on October 15 at the home of Chris Cashman to learn about fun and useful DIY beauty products and to enjoy some great wines from South Africa.

In addition to connecting with the interest groups you usually enjoy, be on the lookout for new Garden Club activities in the months ahead. The Garden Club represents the roots of our women's club and is yet another wonderful opportunity to connect with our community and each other.

As we move into the often busy fall months, remember how renewing our connections with each other can help us sustain both ourselves and our community.

Happy to be connected to all of you,
Belinda Vogel and Beverly Dozier
fifty Program 50th Anniversary Luncheon Recap

GARDEN PARTY ANNIVERSARY OPENING LUNCHEON

Hello everyone,

It's in the books! The Opening Luncheon was a huge success and certainly a "Celebration" of honoring our Past Presidents and acknowledging Lettie Nixon as our 1st Women's Club President.  We had 26 presidents in attendance! The Luncheon opened with Susan Stewart on the piano with songs from the 70's- 80's-90's-2000's.  David Ellis, our guitarist played during the "Fashion through the Decades" Fashion Show, sponsored by Dillards. Models were our Past Presidents.

Parkaire Kroger donated the flowers for the tables, our members donated flowers, decor and time to setup and take down. The door prizes were donated from members & businesses in our community. A very delicious lunch was served.  Danna Vach a past president, member and owner of Bruster's Due -West, was very gracious to give us a special price for the refreshing peach infused ice cream for dessert.

Co-Presidents, Belinda Vogel and Beverly Dozier spoke throughout the luncheon and acknowledged our Lifetime Awards Members, Past and Present Board and Committee Members, and thanked all the Luncheon Committee Ladies. Our Interest Group leaders were also available at the table to sign up for this year's activities. The  Luncheon/meeting was adjourned.

I expressed how wonderful it's been, being a part of our community. We are the "HEART of our Community." How we've touch many lives through the 50 years and been involved in so many facets of Chattahoochee Plantation Community Association. The list is too long to write of monies and services we have provided during these years to so many different charitable organizations.

I would like to THANK, Julie Lischer as this years Celebration Chairman. Julie helped with program, video, decor, the list goes on. Janie Kissling, for always being there for me, helping with research, music, models, decor and touching wherever she could help. Ellie Lacy for her time and talents, Cynthia Dolezal, for her work on the Decade boards, Trish Chapman for the photography. Bonnie Mann for taking the time to make all the napkin rings. The Luncheon committee and helpers, Susan Weinstein, Lesli Asiello, Lisa Enochs, Susan Fulkerson, Janet Thomas, Judy Winchell, Belinda Vogel, Beverly Dozier, Pat Iaffaldano, Jan Welborn, Pat Smith, Nancy Mitchell, JeanAnn McCarthy, Heather Rees and Melissa Malmberg.

Don't forget to redeem you $25.00 to Coton Frais' online coupon that Clarice Dowdle, Past President donated to every member. (Enter ATL as the Code)
