SNAP Benefits at the Market
The Baltimore Farmers’ Market & Bazaar is not affected by recent vendor and contract issues regarding the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) at farmers' markets. The market will continue to accept and process electronic benefit transfer cards (EBTs). For more information on SNAP/EBT benefits at area farmers markets, visit the Maryland Department of Agriculture at

"Time To Read" This Sunday, August 5
For this month's
First Sundays presented by Aetna Better Health of Maryland
, the Enoch Pratt Free Library and the National Aquarium visit the Baltimore Farmers’ Market & Bazaar. Market-goers can dive into a book at the Book Buggy, an early literacy bookmobile, or stop by a family story time from 9am-10am, with readings by special guests. Don't forget to sign up for a library card and learn about the Read to Reef Book club, a program that provides Baltimore children free admission to the National Aquarium through reading!

Pick of the Week Recipe: Gazpacho (Gluten Free)

Ingredients:
- 3 lbs tomatoes
- 1 red onion
- 1 bell pepper
- 2 carrots
- 1 cucumber, peeled, seeded
- carrot tops or parsley
- 2 garlic cloves, smashed
- 1/2 teaspoon hot Spanish smoked paprika
- salt
- ground pepper
- extra virgin olive oil
- vinegar (sherry, balsamic, etc.)
- garnish options: avocado puree, crostini
Instructions:
- Wash vegetables. Roughly chop 3/4 of the tomatoes and cucumbers and 1/2 of onion and pepper. Place in a bowl, sprinkle with salt and toss. Cover and set aside for 1-2 hours.
- Dice the rest of the onion, tomatoes, pepper, cucumber, plus the carrots, toss with a tablespoon of olive oil and place in a large storage container in the fridge.
- Place the rough chopped tomato/cucumber mixture in a blender with the garlic, carrot tops/parsley, smoked paprika and puree. Slowly drizzle 1/8 cup of the olive oil into the blender. Stir the puree into the reserved diced vegetables. Adjust seasoning. Chill and Serve.
Keeps well for a couple of days in the refrigerator.

Register Now for Chef Egg Live: Family Cooking Class August 5
Each month through October, from 9:30am-11am, Chef Egg teaches families how to create meals using farm fresh ingredients. Classes feature a tour of the market followed by a hands-on cooking class supported by Mission Thrive Summer graduates and students. Classes are $10 per person, and participants can register

*Compliments of Mercy Medical Center, patrons can park for free in the Mary Catherine Bunting Garage, located at 330 Guilford Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21202, for two hours (maximum) from 7am to noon.
Vehicles should enter through the Pleasant Street entrance. Bring your ticket to the Welcome Tent for validation.
A Friendly Reminder About Pets at the Market
Pets are not allowed at the Baltimore Farmers' Market & Bazaar, and it is a Baltimore City Health Department ticketable offense of up to $1,000.00.
