Happy Friday MTC Families and Friends,

I hope you are having a beautiful week. I want to thank the teachers and families who came out to our Parent/Teacher night on Wednesday. Communication is so important as we work together to meet the needs of our students and help them grow into the amazing young men and women God created them to be. I thank both the teachers and the parents for their commitment to our students.

I have a few security updates. We have been approved to have an off-duty Hillsborough County Police Officer on our campus one morning a week while our kids attend Mass. The officer will be here to monitor the campus while they are walking to the church and attending mass. We have submitted the paperwork and are waiting for an officer to pick up the job. Each week may be someone different, but we hope to have a handful of officers that will rotate the job throughout the year.

I have started collecting quotes on the perimeter fencing around our campus. I have been made aware of some new materials that may provide better security than chain-link. This is the first priority to harden our campus and keep our children safe.

In addition, we have received a beautiful donation to build a grotto that would include a statue of Mother Teresa.  I am looking to install this on the patio area just inside the gate. This will provide a reverent and reflective area of prayer, like an outdoor chapel. I would like the rock wall (grotto) to expand to cover the center area of the fence to provide a barrier and obstruct the view from outside the school into the courtyard. This would provide additional security during morning prayer and transition times.

I pray you have a rejuvenating weekend with your family. These precious days fly by so fast and it is nice to sit back and enjoy your time together. Fall is in the air and it is a welcome change.

God bless you,

Teresa Caraker
Principal

Athletics for Grades 5-8

Parents/Guardians of students in grades 5-8 who would like their child to participate in any MTC after school sports this school year, must complete two forms prior to tryouts. These two forms are the Diocesan Athletic Form and the Participation Health Screening Form (physician signature required). The Diocesan Athletic Form can be completed online, but the Participation Health Screening Form must be completed by your physician and hard copy submitted to the school. You can scan the completed Participation Health Screening Form and email to Coach Bistreich or you can drop off the completed form to the front office.

If your student participated in tryouts for a fall sport or made a team for the fall sports season, you do not need to complete these forms again since they are valid for the entire school year.
