The Children's Museum will be closed to the public for cleaning and annual facility maintenance from Tuesday, September 3 - Friday, September 6, 2019. 

We will re-open on Saturday, September 7 with fall hours in effect:
  • Sunday - Thursday: 9:30AM - 4:30PM
  • Friday & Saturday: 9:30AM - 6:00PM

MANYFEST
SEPTEMBER 7 & 8, 2019

Come and visit us at the MiniFest Family Zone at ManyFest in downtown Winnipeg on Saturday, September 7 and Sunday, September 8 between 11:00AM - 6:00PM where we will be creating works of art using catapults and paint! It will be a splatter all weekend long!

GRANDPARENTS' SPECIAL DAY
SEPTEMBER 8, 2019

Celebrate Grandparents' Day on September 8 by exploring the Children's Museum as a family - grandparents get half-price admission all day long! Make memories that will last a lifetime and head over to our Creation Station to create a portrait of your grandparents to decorate their wall at home!

 

MINI MONDAYS
MONDAYS STARTING 
SEPTEMBER 9, 2019

For songs, games, crafts, and more, join us starting in September for our new Mini Mondays programming! Choose from three exciting options as you register for weeks of fun. With musical sessions led by trained facilitators from Prelude Music  and themed sessions led by our experienced early years museum staff, each week is a new adventure!

Mini Mondays are geared towards children aged 0-4 and their caregivers. Each session consists of 60-minutes of programming followed by a 30-minute coffee/tea service, complete with activities to keep your little ones engaged and learning.

 

CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS: CIRCLES FOR RECONCILIATION
TUESDAYS FROM SEPTEMBER 24 - NOVEMBER 26, 2019

Circles for Reconciliation is a grassroots project that establishes local discussion groups in order to build trusting, meaningful relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples as part of the 94 Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
 
As signatories to Winnipeg's Indigenous Accord, the Children's Museum is committed to promoting deeper intercultural understanding, increased empathy, and mutual respect within our community. With these goals in mind, the Children's Museum will be hosting Circles for Reconciliation this fall, and is currently seeking Circle participants.
 


MINI CULTURE DAYS
SEPTEMBER 27 - 29, 2019

Join the Children's Museum in the great outdoors as we participate in Culture Days for another year. What better way to experience the beauty of art than helping us complete a graffiti wall? Stop by between 10:00AM - 3:00PM on Friday and between 11:00AM -3:00PM on Saturday and Sunday and unleash your inner street artist.

 

MINI NUIT BLANCHE
SEPTEMBER 28, 2019

Nuit Blanche is a free all-night exploration and celebration of contemporary art that takes place on the Saturday of Culture Days weekend. All-night means different things to different people, and for us it means 8:30PM! So - seize the night, and come spark your creative learning after dark by enjoying FREE(*) admission to the museum galleries! Graffiti Art Programming Inc. will be here facilitating a collaborative graffiti art project and Let's Talk Science University of Winnipeg will be doing hands-on science experiments all night long.

(*)Please Note: The Children's Museum reserves the right to control entry in accordance with occupancy and general admission policies. Free admission will be available on a first-come, first-served basis up to a maximum capacity of 500 people for this event.

EXPLORE-ABILITIES MORNING
OCTOBER 5, 2019

Part of our Explore-Abilities Access Program, join us on Saturday, October 5 for an Explore-Abilities Morning - a sensory-friendly museum experience designed for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and sensory processing differences to have fun and enjoy interactive, hands-on learning in a safe and accessible facility!

For this extra special Explore-Abilities Morning, we are celebrating Halloween! We invite you and your little one to wear your Halloween costumes and trick-or-treat in our galleries. Please note that if you or your child's costume includes a toy weapon or a mask, we respectfully ask that you leave those items at home.

Attention Educators: We're now accepting School Program Bookings for the 2019/20 School Year! With 70+ Manitoba curriculum-linked School Programs for Grades N - 5 available in English, French, Basic French, or Immersion, as well as other special school offers and upcoming events, the Children's Museum is a perfect destination to extend your students' learning experiences and reinforce your classroom instruction.
 
Fall Visit Special
Plan a class visit to the Children's Museum in September or October and SAVE! School Programs held before October 31, 2019 will receive the reduced rate of $4.00 per student (regular price: $4.75 per student).

As fall approaches, it's time to plan for end-of-year holiday events: staff parties, family celebrations, receptions, and more. With twelve permanent galleries that spark kids' creative learning as well as private rooms of varying sizes and numerous optional services including our seasonal Gourmet Hot Chocolate Bar, Old Fashioned Refreshment Stand, and personal Shop-er holiday gift services, the Children's Museum is the ideal location to host your family-friendly holiday event.
 
Our November and December facility rental calendar is already filling up with holiday bookings, so contact us soon to book a date for your gathering. We will provide you with a customized quote based on your event needs, with discounts for museum members and non-profit agencies.
 


ONLINE AUCTION
NOVEMBER 1 - 15, 2019

Just in time for the holidays, the Children's Museum's 11th Annual Online Auction will run from November 1 - 15, 2019. We are currently looking for gift-in-kind donations for this auction - including special products and services, gift certificates, sporting event tickets, clothing, art, antiques, and more! All event proceeds will support the Children's Museum's work with kids and families in our community. With over 100,000 visits during last year's auction, our website provides a large audience for your brand or product.
