We are making many changes around the library in anticipation of opening. We have been adding sneeze guards, moving computers and furniture to allow for social distancing work and study. Plus we have automatic doors, auto flush toilets' and faucets. Book check out will be improved to meet new guidelines. We can't wait to see you!

FYI, all library materials have automatically been renewed to May 5th.
The blood drive with the American Red Cross hosted at the library produced 50 pints of blood that will help over 150 people .

One-way books still going strong!

We continue to fill carts with kids and adults books, DVDs, and puzzles from the library bookstore. They are in front of the library under the farmers porch, available Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m.

Help yourself while exercising the recommended social precautions, sanitize items, and please do not return the books back to the library!

Since we have had so much rain, why not plant a Rain Garden. It is attractive and good for the environment.
You can't help but notice the rain garden in front of the library. Th is project was completed in partnership with the Association to Preserve Cape Cod, Americorps Cape Cod, Horsley Witten Group, the Town of Barnstable, and Three Bays Preservation with funding provided by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Southeast New England Program. Effective Monday, April 13, 2020, the Transfer Station and Recycling Center will be temporarily closing the facility on Tuesdays and Wednesdays through May 4, 2020. Also, the Recycling Area at the Town of Barnstable’s Transfer Station will be temporarily closed through May 4, 2020. More info.

New due dates for the following real estate and personal property bills, motor vehicle excise bills, water and sewer utility bills, and exemption and deferral applications:

Fourth Quarter Real Estate and Personal Property Tax Bills:
  • Original Due Date: May 1, 202 - New Due Date: June 1, 2020

Motor Vehicle Excise Taxes:
  • Any bills issued with a due date of March 10, 2020, or later are now due on June 1, 2020, regardless of the due date printed on the bill  

Water and Sewer Utility Bills:
Town of Barnstable Finance Director further clarification regarding payment of Water Utility Bills and Motor Vehicle Excise Tax Bills.  Click here for full notice >
