The campus community is invited to a kickoff event
on Thursday, Sept.12 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to celebrate the new student bus pass program and partnership with the Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA).
The event will take place in the quad and includes a Club Rush and free refreshments.

President's Open Forums & Office Hours
President Greg Schulz will host open office hours and open forums through the fall semester. The Office of the President is located in Building 100. The first open hour is today, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. The first forum is Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 11 a.m.

Día de los Muertos Returns Oct. 24
This year's
Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration is Thursday, Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. on the quad. Día de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday that remembers the dead by honoring them and celebrating the lives they lived. This large free community event features many ofrendas (altars), entertainment, food and vendors.
Free Speech Policies Under Revision
The campus community is invited to an open forum about the free speech policies governing the college on Monday, Oct. 14, 2 - 3:30 p.m. in Building 200, Rooms 224-228. The North Orange County Community College District's policies that
outline the procedures for free speech activities, including distribution and posting of printed materials on campus and district sites are under revision. Read more...

National Hispanic Heritage Month Kicks Off With
¡Bienvenidos!
Fullerton College will kickoff National Hispanic Heritage Month with the 15th annual ¡Bienvenidos! hosted by the Cadena Cultural Center and Associated Students on Tuesday, Sept. 17 in the quad. Later in the month, the Cadena Cultural Center and the Ethnic Studies Department will team up to host the Latinx Students Forum on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Building 200, Room 224. The forum provides an educational and open-dialogue space for the campus community to reflect on the successes and challenges of the Hispanic and Latinx community.

Save the Date: Chancellor to Host Open Office Hour on Oct. 31
Chancellor Cheryl Marshall will host an open office hour at Fullerton College on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 10 a.m. at the President's Office in Building 100. The open office hour provides students, faculty, staff, and the community an opportunity to meet Chancellor Marshall and discuss any topic of interest. Guests may be limited on time depending on the number of visitors.

The FC Leisure Reading Group
Meet new people in a non-classroom setting! The FC Leisure Reading Book Group was formed to encourage students to read for recreation. Through the generosity of the Friends of the Library, students will receive a free book chosen by the student participants. The Leisure Reading Group meets twice monthly on Thursdays from 3-4:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the library on Thursday, Sept. 19, in Room 822. Please contact Librarian Jane Ishibashi at

Win Up to $200 in the Banned Books Essay Contest
The Fullerton College Library is hosting the fourth annual Banned Books Essay Contest with prizes up to $200. All students are eligible to participate. Essays must be 500-1,000 words and answer one of the essay prompts regarding controversial books. The deadline to submit essays is Friday, Oct. 11. For more information, view the flyer.

Attend These Workshops and Get Ready to Transfer
The "Are You Ready to Apply?" workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 2 p.m. and repeated Saturday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. provides students with an overview of the year-long application cycle for CSUs and UCs. The "Applying to the UC and Personal Insight Responses" workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 5 p.m. provides assistance with the UC application. The "Next Steps for Spring 2020 Transfer" workshop on Wednesday, Sept. 11 at 2 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. provides the steps needed to take after submitting a university application. All workshops are in Building 200, Room 212. RSVPs are required by calling Transfer Center at 714-992-7086.

Women's Soccer
On Friday afternoon, the Hornets proved too much for El Camino beating the Warriors 3-0 on the road under the hot sun. Up Next: FC (3-0 overall) will play again on the road Friday, Sept. 13 against Rio Hondo College at 6 p.m.
Football
The FC football kicked off the 2019 season on Saturday against visiting Golden West College, and held off the surging Rustlers 38-33. It was all Hornets for the first three quarters with GWC making a run in the fourth, but Fullerton held strong in the end preserving the win. Up Next: The Hornets (1-0 overall) will host another one at Yorba Linda High's Nathan Shapell Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 14 when they welcome the No. 1 team in the country (JCGridiron) Riverside City College at 1 p.m. Come on out for this one and support your Hornets!
Men's Soccer
Fullerton played in the Mt. San Antonio Invitational over the weekend beating College of the Desert in the opener on Friday 2-1. In the championship game on Sunday the tourney host Mt. SAC, the Hornets lost 1-0 on a free-kick in the 62nd minute. Up Next: FC (2-2-1 overall) will host Antelope Valley College on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 3 p.m.
Women's Volleyball
The FC women's volleyball squad beat L.A. Harbor 3-0 (25-11, 26-24, 27-25) on Friday and then lost in a dog-fight at home Saturday 3-2 (26-24, 19-25, 20-25, 25-22, 15-12) against El Camino College. Up Next: Fullerton (2-3 overall) will travel to Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday, Sep. 11 for a non-conference match at 6 p.m.
Women's Water Polo
The Hornets came out firing to open the season at the Saddleback Tournament winning all four of their games to take the tourney. Fullerton beat Grossmont 16-4, Palomar 21-4, Sierra 16-3, and Ventura 16-3. Up Next: Fullerton (4-0 overall) will not play until Wednesday, Sept. 18 when they take on conference rival Riverside City College on the road at 4 p.m.
Men's Water Polo
The FC men's water polo team played in the Citrus Tournament over the weekend splitting their games at 2-2. On Saturday, FC beat Chaffey 17-7 and then beat Santa Monica 16-7. Sunday was a different story as FC tested their skills against a couple of four-year schools falling 19-6 to Occidental and 13-11 to Occidental. Up Next: The Hornets (2-2 overall) will play again on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Riverside City College for the conference opener at 3 p.m.
Men's Cross Country
The Hornets had a nice outing at the Palomar Invitational at Guajome Park in Oceanside. They placed fourth overall out of 10 teams. Up Next: Fullerton will compete in the SoCal Preview at Mission Bay Park in San Diego on Friday, Sept. 13 at 11 a.m.
Women's Golf
FC featured one golfer in Daelyn Torres at the College of the Desert last Wednesday. Torres ended the day shooting 100. Up Next: FC will hit the links at Mt. San Jacinto on Monday, Sept. 9 at 11 a.m.

Wayzgoose
Sept. 5 - Oct. 7
Traditionally a wayzgoose was a gathering held by master printers for their workmen to celebrate the end of the summer and marks the coming months of working by candlelight. Today, a wayzgoose is a term used to describe a celebration or festival where printmakers and book artists gather to share their handmade work and demonstrate their practices.
