Reducing Sexual Assault Through Community Policing
Here's one more reason for good community-police relations: less than one-third of all sexual assaults are reported to the police, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics. Community trust in the police can help raise this number. The Award, bestowed yearly on 10 communities ( more than 500 in all) recognizes the work of communities in using inclusive civic engagement to address critical issues and create stronger connections among residents, businesses and nonprofit and government leaders.
