Volunteer of the Month                              Tonna Flatt
Tonna started volunteering in the Basement Boutique October of 2014 when her dear friend and current volunteer, Cindy Scott, suggested that she come in and help where needed. Tonna enjoyed volunteering so much that she chose to become part of the "Basement Boutique" team. She attends West-Side Christian Church. Tonna is married to Steven. They have a daughter Tasha, a son-in-law, Ryan Kuchar, and two granddaughters, Jade and Annaleigh. Tonna continues to serve in the Basement Boutique because she enjoys serving along with the young women residents and the clients that come in to shop. She reports that, "CM has a welcoming staff and group of volunteers. My experience with each of them has been "JOYFUL!"

Tonna states that, "Volunteering at Contact Ministries has greatly blessed and impacted my life!  Working with and seeing our young women residents grow and become confident within themselves has been a blessing to me.  In November of 2015, I had the honor of assisting one of the shelter mothers bring a new baby girl into this world; I will never forget that moment for the rest of my life!!  I remain close to the mother and her children still to this day.  When I hear, 'God bless you, I do not know what I would do without your help or services,' there is no better way to end your day!"

Thank you Tonna for all you have done
 for Contact Ministries!
Transitional Shelter Summer Camp
Summer camp for the children who are residents in the Transitional Shelter at Contact Ministries is a program designed to encourage them to look beyond their current horizons and see the "big, complex world around them. This summer our theme is, "Contact Goes Around the World." We are studying the different countries around world and diving into them; learning facts and hearing stories from guests that are either from that country, have studied it, or who have spent extensive time there. In an effort to shed light on the world around them, the children learn about the everyday lives of children in other countries. This shows them other contexts of children, just like them, while broadening their worldviews. It also shows just how big God's world truly is.

Other aspects of summer camp have sparked curiosity in the children as well; learning about the different animals, their habitat and the languages of each country. Each week, they learn different words or phrases from the countries. The children love it!  So far this summer, the kids have traveled to Tanzania, England, Ghana, and plan to travel to many other different countries as well!

Westminster Presbyterian Church

Westminster Presbyterian Church is one of the five founding churches of Contact Ministries and have generously supported us for the past 38 years!  It is with their solid foundation that we have been able to provide services for the most vulnerable people in our community.  The annual Christmas Give-Away is hosted at Westminster every year. The Elizabeth Circle Volunteers have been a blessing in the "Basement Boutique" and at our "Back to School" event. Westminster's own Head Pastor Rev. Dr. Blythe Denham Kieffer has served as a Board Member for Contact Ministries since 2014.

Thank you for your 38 years continued support!
