Ministering the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Costa Rica with Praying Pelican Missions, networking with local churches,  serving in our community,  and connecting mission teams to  life- changing ministry opportunities.
One Year in Costa Rica!
God's faithfulness has been so evident in all of our lives over the past year.  We are shocked that it has already been a year since we first began sweating in Costa Rica on a full-time basis!

Thank you to each person who has written cards, sent a text, emailed, and called us!  It has meant the world to us.

Thank you to each of you Monthly Supporters and those who have given to us over the past year.  Your monetary gifts allow us to stay on the mission field!

As we sat down to write how to sum this past year, it is really indescribable.  The experiences we are having, the partnerships being made for ministry, our horrible Spanish, the beautiful Costa Rican people - they are all drawing us closer to Jesus.

Thank you for helping us lift Jesus higher in Costa Rica over this past year!  It's a time to celebrate with each of our friends, family, prayer partners and supporters!  God is doing big things here, and this is definitely a team event!
4,  5,  15,  85
No, it's not my high school locker combination or today's lucky numbers. Those four numbers represent something that we have been working towards all year.  With back to back trips throughout the summer, this one week seemed to be looming over us with tons of details, but knowing there would be tons of fruit from these life-changing trips.

4 Trips in one week.   With just two full-time staff working, having 4 trips in one week is a lot of work. Obviously the amount of details and communication to prepare for these trips was a lot, but God was faithful to make His purposes come to light.  If you would like to see what happened on each trip, you can read the Trip Journals below:

5 Communities being reached in one week.  From those teams serving, 5 different communities were being loved on by the teams!  From trips up a mountain, to a busy city, to a church full of children, to a church needed their building repaired after an earthquake - each received quality ministry to their communities.

15  Staff serving in one week.  At one point this was all I was dreaming about, staffing!  Staffing an entire summer is a logistical nightmare, let alone trying to get staff from one side of the country to the other.  Yet, God has continued to give us wisdom on how to make it all work. Flexibility (as we tell our teams) is key! When we arrived in Costa Rica one year ago, we didn't have near enough staff.  God brought us the right people, we trained them, and 15 served in one week.  God is so faithful!

85 missionaries in Costa Rica in one week.  We continue to be amazed by the influence that God gives us PPM staff.  This past week we had 85 short-term missionaries serving all over Costa Rica.  That may not seem like a lot, but the power and influence inside of each of those missionaries is huge!  Their testimonies of grace, healing, forgiveness, and God showing up were spoken all over the country and caused Jesus to be lifted higher!

"So you are no longer a slave, but God's child; and since you are His child, God has made you also an heir.   Formerly, when you did not know God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods.  But now that you know God-or rather are known by God-how is it that [...]...ยป

We Always NEED Your Prayer Support!
We thank you so much for your faithful financial and prayer support!  We desperately need your prayers!

1.  Our #1 prayer request has been for Malachi.  To update you all, first read the blog posted above!  Over the past 10 days we have noticed a shift, for the good, in him.  We covet your prayers as we continue to parent his hurting heart.

2.  Nate will be leading Immanuel Church's youth group's mission trip to Costa Rica July 23rd-30th!  Our family is all very excited to see some our church family again and watch their partnership continue with an amazing local church.

3.  Darrell has graduated from YWAM and assisted Nate on his most recent trip.  Pray for Darrell as he continues to pray and plan for what God has next for him.

4.  Pray for amazing ministry opportunities and for all of the local churches that are being encouraged this summer through Praying Pelican Mission's short term mission trips.
Love,
Nathan, Laura, Darrell, Reagan, Abigail,  Malachi  & Isaiah Norman
