Anthemion Carving on Rear Pediment of the Jay Mansion -restoration in progress
What's on the Horizon?

In addition to hosting educational programs year round, a central part of our mission is the restoration of the buildings and the landscape at the 23 acre Jay Estate. At any given moment you can find skilled artisans, arborists and architects working intently on returning deteriorated facades or overgrown gardens to their former beauty.

Most recently, for those of you looking upward on your walks around the property, you may notice Bruce MacDonald of Ashwood Restoration atop scaffolding on the rear of the mansion. At long last, the intricate carvings that crown the house are being reapplied thanks to a generous donor.  You can watch our progress by viewing our album here of Before & After Photos of the Rear Pediment. Other projects that have been funded in the past year include rehabilitation of the 1838 Front Door; a concept plan for the Historic Gardens; new catering amenities for the mansion's Butler's Pantry; and reinstallation of several of the Veranda Columns. But we have much more to do!

If you would like to help contribute towards one of our other major restoration projects, now is a great time to make a year-end gift.  Please contact us directly before December 31st to learn more about a wide range of fully tax-deductible funding opportunities at one of America's most beautiful landmark sites.

With continued thanks and best wishes of the season,
