Kinney Pike E-Newsletter                       June 2016
Summer in Vermont!  By the looks of the out-of-state traffic heading into Burlington this past week, it's clear that we're not the only ones who have caught on to this amazing little gem of a location.

We want to remind everyone to travel safely this summer.   It is being said that there will be a record number of travelers this summer.  Sadly, 31 people have lost their lives on Vermont's highways and roads this year already.  Be sure to take extra caution while driving.  Always expect the unexpected and ensure you and your car are ready for road trips.

Enjoy the beautiful summer weather and those hard-earned vacations!  And return home safely to Vermont/New Hampshire, and enjoy all the great things it offers -  quaint watering holes, beautiful lakes, majestic trails, magnificent mountain views, great restaurants and shopping, and those amazing sunsets!
Summer Community Events

We kicked off summer with six events already, supported by Kinney Pike employees and their families of helpers!

In St. Albans, Kinney Pike co-hosted the Franklin County Chamber mixer, and had a Water Station at their Relay for Life on June 25th.  The warm weather invited many people over to the Water Stations that we also had at the Chittenden, Rutland and Caledonia County Relay for Life events.   In Quechee, Kinney Pike was a sponsor of the Quechee Balloon Festival with a very busy weekend handing out balloons and promotional items.  AND ... we were just one of the sponsors of the  6th annual SLAMDiabetes Wiffle Ball Tournament!

What's next?  The Prouty on 7/9 and the Swanton Car Show on 7/30!  In August, you'll find us at the Harpoon Point to Point Bike Ride to benefit the Vermont Food Bank!

If you're looking for a fun day or night out at the ball park, we highly recommend stopping into Burlington for a Vermont Lake Monsters game!  Kinney Pike and The Concord Group proudly display our billboard just over center field at Centennial Field!

Visit our Facebook page for some great event photos!  Here's a video showing our two hot air balloon ride winners taking off at the Quechee Balloon Festival!

Franklin County Caring Communities

Franklin County Caring Communities has been promoting healthy communities in Franklin County since 1997, with a focus on positive youth development and substance use prevention.

Caring Communities works with community partners to identify and implement strategies to prevent and reduce substance abuse, especially among youth and young adults, and equip individuals, families, and the community at large to create healthy, substance-free environments where everyone can thrive.

Caring Communities' initiatives include Guiding Good Choices(TM) a prevention education program for parents of middle-schoolers; Rocking Horse Circle of Support, an education program for pregnant and parenting women affected by substance use and addiction; Safe Homes Parent Network, encouraging parents to set rules and expectations about substance use with their children; Stop Teen Alcohol Risk Team (START), collaborating with law enforcement agencies, court diversion, state's attorney's office, the Department of Liquor Control, and local businesses to reduce youth access to alcohol and enforce underage drinking laws. We also promote community norms that support healthy choices in partnership with media outlets, parents, youth, organizations, businesses, law enforcement, municipalities, and concerned community members.
Caring Communities also support youth through both school-based and community-based mentoring. Watershed Mentoring matches school-age youth who could benefit from a helpful friend with adult community members for guidance and participation in healthy, enriching activities. The program serves 30 children and teens in Franklin and Grand Isle Counties.

Now Offering Drone Insurance

The growth in the demand for drones (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles or UAVs) has been astounding.  Revenues from drone sales are projected to top $12 billion in 2021, up from just over $8 billion last year.  Shipments of consumer drones will more than quadruple over the next five years, fueled by increasing price competition and new technologies that make both personal and commercial applications of drones much more viable.

A growing ecosystem of drone software and hardware vendors is already catering to a long list of clients in agriculture, land management, energy, and construction. Many of the vendors are smallish private companies and startups. Growth in the enterprise sector will outpace the consumer sector in both shipments and revenues as regulations open up new use cases in the US and Europe, the two biggest potential markets for enterprise drones.

Kinney Pike is excited to be able to extend coverage for commercial use of drone insurance to clients. We have markets to protect clients from the various exposures surrounding drones, ranging from injured bystanders to personal property damage to invasion of privacy.

With regard to personal use of drones/UAVs, there may be coverage on a homeowner policy, depending on circumstances of the loss.  This would be determined by the insurance carrier, as noted in their contract.

Visit our website to learn more.  To receive a quote on business use of drones or to request our White Paper on Drone Insurance - A Market on the Rise, please contact Kevin by email or by calling 800-296-5722 x2982.
