OurKids Graduation Inspires All to Continue Supporting Our Community's Youth
On Tuesday, June 14th,
OurKids of Miami Dade/Monroe, Inc. and the Department of Children & Families, along with Miami's Dependency Court Judges and child welfare and community partners, celebrated
the accomplishments of youth and young adults in foster care who completed high school, college or vocational school studies. Five young adults who graduated with honors were also recognized....
FFCR's Permanency Roundtable Program Receives Community Grant from
The Miami Foundation
According to a 2012 Florida survey, 28% of young adults 18 to 22 years old who "aged out" of the foster care system experienced homelessness. FFCR's Permanency Roundtable Program seeks to lower this shocking statistic by facilitating and coordinating individualized, team-driven consultations with the sole aim of achieving permanency through reunification, adoption, guardianship or other lifelong, supportive relationships. National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges Releases Enhanced Resource Guidelines for Child Abuse and Neglect Cases; FFCR's Candice Maze is Co-Author
Since its first release in 1995, the Resource Guidelines: Improving Court Practice in Child Abuse and Neglect Cases, produced by the National Council of Juvenile & Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ), has set the standard for dependency court practice and has been a critical tool for judges across the country seeking to implement best practices. The NCJFCJ's new Enhanced Resource Guidelines, released on May 26, 2016, incorporates the experiential learning of judges who implemented the original Resource Guidelines' best practices, changes to child protection and related federal law, as well as the latest research on child development and promoting positive outcomes for children under the jurisdiction of the court....
Florida Reach Holds Symposium to Improve Educational and Career Outcomes for Vulnerable Youth and Young Adults
