Dear Rapido customer,
I normally shy away from sending out two newsletters in two weeks, but we wanted you to have the chance to see our
HO scale FA-2 in action before the order deadline and, more importantly,
to hear our new Alco 244 sounds. The 244 was the diesel engine/prime mover used in the majority of the FA-series (FA-1, FA-2, FPA-2, etc.) and RS-series (RS-2, RS-3, RS-10, RSC-24, etc.) locomotives produced by Alco and MLW.
Most of the surviving engines that had 244 prime movers were upgraded later in life, so it is almost impossible to get good recordings. That means current models of FA units, RS units, and many other mid-century Alco/MLW locomotives don't have the correct sounds. This is about to change.
