First Aid Classes You love your pet--take the time to become your pet's first responder. When an accident happens, do you know how best to help your pet? You can't call 911 if your dog gets stung by a bee or your cat swallows a bottle of pills. By taking one of these classes, you will learn how to best support your pet until you reach a vet. The 4 hour session on Monday, April 27th provides information on injury assessment, restraint/muzzling, rescue breathing, canine and feline CPR, choking management, heat and cold injuries, bites and stings, seizures, poisoning, fractures and limb injuries, and the creation of a home pet first aid kit. This class includes training materials & a first aid handbook. It is an excellent credential for people who work with pets since you will be obtain a Certification of Completion valid for two years. The 90 minute class on Saturday, May 2nd will touch on some of the more common situations such as choking, a demonstration for CPR for cats and dogs, heat stroke/heat stress/safety precautions about hot weather, plus disaster preparedness including what you need to have on hand in case of a disaster. This class is great for pet parents who want a basic knowledge of pet first aid without having to commit an entire day to training. The cost of the classes is being paid by Chartiers Custom Pet Cremation so there will be no charge to participants attending the classes. Space is limited so participants must register to attend.
