We are delighted to continue our electronic newsletters. Today we are pleased to update you on our successful 2016 Chez Nous Benefit. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all who attended the benefit and most especially to all those who worked so steadfastly on our many benefit committees. 

As the fourth quarter of the school year begins, we look forward to many more Notre Dame festivities, including Ring Day, Alumnae Reunion and our 100th Graduation to name a few. In the midst of our preparations I rediscovered a lovely prayer that I would like to share part of with you. In the busy and exciting days ahead m ay we all deepen our trust in "the slow work of God." 

Above all, trust in the slow work of God.
We are quite naturally impatient in everything
to reach the end without delay.
We should like to skip the intermediate stages.
We are impatient of being on the way to something unknown, something new.
And yet it is the law of all progress that it is made by passing through some
stages of instability--and that it may take a very long time. 

Give our Lord the benefit of believing that his hand is leading you,
and accept the anxiety of feeling yourself in suspense and incomplete.

59th Annual Chez Nous Benefit  Raises Over $150,000

On Saturday, March 12, over 400 alumnae, parents, friends, and students of Notre Dame gathered at Chelsea Piers, Pier Sixty for the 59th Annual  Chez Nous Benefit Luncheon. The annual event is an opportunity to celebrate as one community and to raise funds to support the current generation of Notre Dame students.

The afternoon featured silent and live auctions, raffles, student speakers, recognition of Patricia Valonis P'16 and Jeanine Bogdanos P'13, '14, '16 as the  Chez Nous Parents of the Year and of course a delicious meal and warm conversation. Thank you to our generous friends who contributed a wide array of auction items and experiences. Winners of the silent auction walked away with prizes ranging from designer handbags to theater tickets and restaurant experiences. The live auction had bidders raising their paddles for tickets to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, get-aways to Mexico, Cape Cod and the Jersey Shore as well as private shopping experiences at J.Crew and Madewell.

Georgetown University in the fall.
Seniors Gabriella Phillip and Angela Perez took to the stage to share their gratitude and appreciation for those who contribute to the Notre Dame Annual Fund with inspired speeches about their experiences  Chez Nous. Ms. Perez, who will attend Georgetown University in the fall, noted that, as a result of her Notre Dame education, she is "ready to take on the world." Ms. Perez went on to share that she "would never have been able to attend Notre Dame and now Georgetown without the contributions and support of each and every ND benefactor."

Barnard College in the fall. 
Following the speeches, Notre Dame's generous benefactors raised their paddles to "Fund-the-Scholarship." In the span of ten minutes, board members, alumnae, parents and friends raised their paddles and collectively pledged over $34,000 to support the scholarship program, making Notre Dame a reality for students like Ms. Perez and Ms. Phillip.

The event would not have been possible without the tireless effort of the Benefit Core Committee, a group of parents, alumnae, grandparents and friends. These committed volunteers began preparing last fall to make this event the great success that it was. Thanks to the more than 400 alumnae, parents, friends and students who made this event possible and, as a result, have helped to make Notre Dame a reality for the students  Chez Nous.
