A Message from the Dean...
Back to Normal (Sigh)
"I am going fishing."- John 21:3

There was absolutely nothing wrong with Peter and his friends going   fishing. That was their livelihood. Peter, by all accounts, was not just a       fisherman for sport; he was a commercial fisherman. If you go to Capernaum today, you will see the archeological remains of a house identified as Peter's house. It has been venerated as Peter's house since the mid-first century. It is located across the street from the synagogue. This was a large house by Middle Eastern standards.
What this tells us is that Peter and James and Zebedee, their father, were wealthy. Probably they were wealthy businessmen in a town that was a     crossroads of trade.
So, when Peter goes fishing, he's not just going fishing for relaxation; he's going fishing to go back to his old life. Jesus has died, and now it's time for life to return to normal.
No, not really. Jesus is there to remind Peter that he is supposed to be  fishing for men, not for fish.
Do you recall a time in your life when your heart sang in joy for the love of Jesus? When you saw life in technicolor rather than black and white? When you had a passion for Jesus in your life? Have you gone back to your old life as Peter did? Is life back to normal?
Do you wish it were otherwise?  What are you going to do about it?

Blessings
