MATCH+BOOKS
It's wonderful to have a special treat chosen just for you. Let the East Brunswick Public Library staff use their expertise to select your next great read with our new match+book service. Just fill out a simple form telling us about what you like to read and what you're looking for, and librarians will give you three custom book suggestions. The service is available for books, ebooks and audiobooks - just let us know how you want to read, and we'll do the rest. There is even an option for the books to be placed on reserve for you!
The library's Reader's Advisory committee worked on developing the form, and it was piloted over the summer. We're very excited about being able to offer this to our community, and encourage you to give it a try!

One-on-One Job Help
The Business Resource Center@East Brunswick Public Library is offering one-on-one job help provided by the Professional Services Group - New Brunswick. An experienced counselor will help you to:
- Fill out online job applications
- Create an email account
- Explore career options
- Identify the best job websites and databases

Get Your Resume Reviewed
Are you confident with your current resume?Are you getting the results you desire with your current resume?If you don't have a resume, could you write an effective one quickly and easily? Is your resume appropriate for your career phase and level of expertise?
If you answered "no" to any of these questions or you're not sure, then you are a perfect candidate for our resume review/writing services. You will meet individually with a Business Resource Center Team Member to review your job goals and how to attain them through your resume.
The $75 fee covers meeting with your coach 2 or 3 times to develop the resume that is best suited to you and your goals. Call 1-732-390-6782 or email [email protected] to make an appointment.
Room Rentals
Meeting rooms for events up to 200 persons are available for use for a fee. There is no minimum attendee requirement, no limit to the number of group meetings, and groups are permitted to charge and/or conduct fundraising activities. Click here for rates, insurance requirements, and the policy. We are centrally located in Middlesex County, with easy access to all major highways.
Our rooms are...State-of-the art, handicap accessible, equipped with TV/DVD players, WiFi, a podium and a flip pad.
Two of our rooms can be set-up in four possible configurations: U-shape, classroom, Seminar, Work Group
A third room can accommodate smaller meetings/trainings
The Business Resource Center at the East Brunswick Public Library proctors exams for anyone who is pursuing traditional college degrees, distance learning or certification in a trade or specialty. All exams are proctored by professional librarians in accordance with the guidelines of each institution.

We Are Thankful For Our 'Friends'
As our thoughts turn to our uniquely American Thanksgiving holiday, it is always nice to take a few minutes to think about all the things in our lives for which we are grateful. This November I am particularly grateful for the Friends of the East Brunswick Library. This dedicated group of volunteers are unflagging in their support and hard work to raise funds to make this library special. The Friends spend so many hours thinking about the library and planning fundraisers large and small to enable the library to offer new programs and services. This past year the Friends sponsored the construction of three small group study rooms that are now a popular destination for many small meetings, homework groups, business meetings and folks that don't need a large meeting room for their activity. In November the Friends offer two very popular programs: their Fall author meeting featuring local author Scott Mazzella and the "What's It Worth?" collectibles program, back by popular demand. So be sure to jot down the dates and plan on attending these programs so you too can say a personal "thank you" to the Friends for all that they do for your public library! Stop by and have the tech savvy teens of the East Brunswick Public Library's "Geek League" help you with that tricky new gadget. Teens in the Geek League are available to help create an email or Facebook account and answer other basic computer questions. They are there to coach adults to be more comfortable with electronic gadgets such as cell phones and ereaders. Just bring your gadget and any manuals and cords it comes with.
Please note that non-wi-fi devices generally need software pre-installed on your computer...please bring your laptop as well.
What's It Worth?

Come to everyone's favorite "Antiques Road Show" and learn to tell how much that family heirloom or treasured possession is worth. Have your items appraised by Joe Bodnar from Bodnar's Auction Sales. Tickets to get two appraisals are $10 and are on sale at the library now. Attendance is free, but for those wanting appraisals for their items, tickets are $10 (no weapons please).
Author Talk: Desperate Love: Author Talk - Richard Reiss
Monday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m.
Richard Reiss will discuss his book, Desperate Love: A Father's Memoir along with his wife, psychologist, Paula Kaplan-Reiss, Ph.D. As a couple who struggled to become parents, Rick and Paula adopted their infant son who grew up having significant emotional and behavioral issues. Discussion will focus on adoption, mental health issues and how to protect and strengthen marriage and family when a child is in crisis.

Learn how to use the most recent version of the most popular image-editing software on the market. We will cover some basic photo editing techniques, and look at how to work with layers. This class is conducted using Macs and will require you to have basic computer skills including using a mouse and keyboard. This program is free. Final Cut Pro Workshops
Monday, Nov. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Saturday, Nov. 22 from noon to 2 p.m.
EBPLay, the Library's media lab, includes five Mac computer work stations, all with Final Cut Pro, digital editing software, so that patrons of all ages can edit and produce their own movie masterpieces. This workshop is designed to introduce beginners on how to use the software. The workshop is free and limited to 10 people.
Funding for the EBPlay Media Lab was provided by the New Jersey State Library and LibraryLinkNJ, the New Jersey Library Cooperative whose services are funded by the New Jersey State Library, which is responsible for the coordination, promotion, and funding of the New Jersey Library Network.
