LaTEACH
Action Alert - Attend a Legislative Roundtable
Dear

Each year the DD Council hosts Legislative Roundtables across the state in collaboration with LaCAN, LaTEACH, and Families Helping Families. These events provide an opportunity to:
  • Meet with legislators in your area
  • Get current information on state issues
  • Increase your ability to be an effective advocate

There are two ways for you to get involved:

  1. Sign up to attend.  Information to RSVP is listed below.
  2. Share your story at the event.  We are looking for individuals willing to share their story as related to the advocacy agenda items listed below:
    • Need for the new alternative pathway to a diploma (through Act 833 of 2014) to be implemented -  What does it mean to you for your child to be able to work to his or her potential and earn a high school diploma?
    • Need for an equitable funding formula across all schools (traditional and charter) -  Have you ever been told that your child's services were being reduced or not available to the degree needed?  Does your school receive its fair share of resources to teach your child?
    • Need for all schools to serve ALL students -  Has a school "counseled your child out" of attending by saying the school did not have the supports or services in place for your child?  Or whether you thought a different school would be a better fit for your child?
