When Dinah Jammal learned about the North Carolina shootings of a Muslim dental school student and his wife, she turned to her husband and said,"That could have been us.'' Of 58 students who sought matches after graduation, 49 --  or 85 percent -- were matched, as opposed to the national average of 65 percent. The four students who refused to leave the lunch counter of a segregated North Carolina Woolworth's are remembered today as heroes of the Civil Rights movement. But people like RSDM alum Dr. George McLaughlin -- who joined his classmates during the early days of their sit-in -- also shaped history. He was among a small but growing wave of students who turned out to support them and kept showing up, eventually sparking a nationwide student movement at lunch counters across the U.S. LEARN MORE

Dental School vs. Med School

Bitewings against Medwings

Join us at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and RSDM battle it out on the ice in the 3rd annual Medwings vs. Bitewings ice hockey game on March 20th at the Prudential Center in Newark at 8 p.m. 

The match is a fundraiser for the Emmanuel Cancer Foundation, which helps families who are struggling with a child's illness from cancer. The suggested donation is $5 at the door.  This year, the match is partially sponsored by the NHL and will include games, prizes and an auction of sports memorabilia.
