MATCH+BOOKS
It's wonderful to have a special treat chosen just for you. Let the East Brunswick Public Library staff use their expertise to select your next great read with our new match+book service. Just fill out a simple form telling us about what you like to read and what you're looking for, and librarians will give you three custom book suggestions. The service is available for books, ebooks and audiobooks - just let us know how you want to read, and we'll do the rest. There is even an option for the books to be placed on reserve for you!
The library's Reader's Advisory committee worked on developing the form, and it was piloted over the summer. We're very excited about being able to offer this to our community, and encourage you to give it a try!

One-on-One Job Help
The Business Resource Center@East Brunswick Public Library is offering one-on-one job help provided by the Professional Services Group - New Brunswick. An experienced counselor will help you to:
- Fill out online job applications
- Create an email account
- Explore career options
- Identify the best job websites and databases

Get Your Resume Reviewed
Are you confident with your current resume?Are you getting the results you desire with your current resume?If you don't have a resume, could you write an effective one quickly and easily? Is your resume appropriate for your career phase and level of expertise?
If you answered "no" to any of these questions or you're not sure, then you are a perfect candidate for our resume review/writing services. You will meet individually with a Business Resource Center Team Member to review your job goals and how to attain them through your resume.
The $75 fee covers meeting with your coach 2 or 3 times to develop the resume that is best suited to you and your goals. Call 1-732-390-6782 or email [email protected] to make an appointment.
Room Rentals
Meeting rooms for events up to 200 persons are available for use for a fee. There is no minimum attendee requirement, no limit to the number of group meetings, and groups are permitted to charge and/or conduct fundraising activities. Click here for rates, insurance requirements, and the policy. We are centrally located in Middlesex County, with easy access to all major highways.
Our rooms are...State-of-the art, handicap accessible, equipped with TV/DVD players, WiFi, a podium and a flip pad.
Two of our rooms can be set-up in four possible configurations: U-shape, classroom, Seminar, Work Group
A third room can accommodate smaller meetings/trainings
The Business Resource Center at the East Brunswick Public Library proctors exams for anyone who is pursuing traditional college degrees, distance learning or certification in a trade or specialty. All exams are proctored by professional librarians in accordance with the guidelines of each institution.
There is a $25 fee for each exam. Payment is required at the time the exam is administered. The library will accept cash or checks. Checks must be made payable to the East Brunswick Public Library. Contact Rumeli Mukherjee at [email protected] or call 732-390-6782.

Looking Back On A Wonderful Year
Amid the hustle and bustle of year-end activities and holidays with family and friends it is nice to take a moment to look back on the year that is coming to a close.
It has been a busy year for the East Brunswick Public Library! Library staff worked hard to bring some new services to our residents and engage our young customers in many fun and challenging activities. If you have not visited our new digital media lab, equipped with 5 Apple workstations loaded with iMovie and Final Cut Pro for video editing and the Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, for graphic design and editing, then I invite you to come visit and let us show you what you can do in "EBPLay." For our residents who love to hear about a good book we introduced Match + Book, a service that recommends three titles for you to try based on past books you have enjoyed. For all the youth of our town, there have been so many new programs and activities offered in the past year - we certainly hope you have enjoyed some of them! Monthly cooking activities, science programs, storytime and tech classes are just a few of the programs offered as well as some special activities for teens and tweens. The Teen Space has hosted awesome after-hours gaming competitions, a talent show, started a new book and film discussion group, and hosted some crafty afternoons.
Library staff always want to hear what our residents think about our services, collections, and any suggestions. Please share your thoughts using the comment cards, library website, or just talk to a staff member and we will be sure to consider your ideas. Make it your New Year's resolution to visit the library and enjoy meeting your neighbors while having fun and learning a new skill.

 Acoustic Guitar PerformanceSunday, Dec. 7 at 3 p.m.Come and enjoy a wonderful acoustic guitar performance with musician Matt Richards. Richards has performed in duets with guitarists Larry Coryell, Tony Hughes, Jim Goodin and Emiliano Pardo, flutist Katherine Barbato and vocalist Jay Katz. He also is a founding member of the acoustic guitar trio Language of 3. While at the Library, he will perform a solo acoustic show that includes music from his new release, Balance.

Computer Training Courses
Courses in December include offerings for beginners to experts. Classes are two hours long and limited to 12 students each.
All Intro and Level 1 Courses are Free. There is a $10 fee for all others. Fees will be added to a cardholder's account and paid for at the Circulation desk. Non-cardholders will be charged $15 and must pay at the time of registration.

$ Defensive Driving-Sign up now!
Monday, Dec. 1 and Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m.
Get a 5 percent discount on your auto insurance or erase points from you or your teen's driver's license by attending the next two-day East Brunswick Friends of the Library's Defensive Driving Course.
Eligible drivers can erase two points from their driver's license and/or get a five percent discount for three years on a portion of their auto insurance by attending both sessions.
Approved by the State of New Jersey, the course is taught by an experienced police detective-accident investigator. Participants must attend two consecutive evenings for credit. Course costs vary according to goal: for a 2 point reduction on your license, $65; for an insurance discount, $55. For both, the cost is $65.
Attendance is mandatory and refunds cannot be given for partial attendance. Applications are available at the Circulation desk or online. Registration is required and seating is limited to 30 people.
The Geek League

Stop by and have the tech savvy teens of the East Brunswick Public Library's "Geek League" help you with that tricky new gadget. Teens in the Geek League are available to help create an email or Facebook account and answer other basic computer questions. They are there to coach adults to be more comfortable with electronic gadgets such as cell phones and ereaders. Just bring your gadget and any manuals and cords it comes with.
Please note that non-wi-fi devices generally need software pre-installed on your computer...please bring your laptop as well.
SATURDAY STITCH Drop-In Session with SANDY KANDEL
Saturday, Dec. 13 from 10 a.m.-noon
Bring your favorite needlecraft project and tap into Sandy's expertise to get past those problem spots! Whether you knit, crochet, needlepoint, counted cross stitch, embroider or other needlework, come drop in at your convenience for tips and enjoy Sandy's expert advice and the camaraderie of fellow crafters. There will be a sign-in sheet, and Sandy will give one-on-one advice in order of the sign-ins. All levels welcome. This is a regular monthly program on second Saturdays.

World Party! Short Story Discussion Group

Short stories are popular the world over - so join us for a new discussion group with a focus on multicultural authors and stories. Every other month we'll be meeting to discuss an individual story. Join us as we celebrate National Write a Novel in a Month with two Teen Writers Workshops in December. We'll be writing together, working on different writing prompts, sharing our work, getting feedback from friends and more. You'll leave this workshop with a bound book of everyone's work. Community service hours are given for this club. We'll be getting together in Group Study Room 3.

Do you love Manga? Do you wish the library had different series? Do you want to help the library create a better Manga collection? Join the Collection Committee! We are taking suggestions on what we should collect and how we should group them and more. Everyone who helps out will get community service hours.

For Teens who love to program. Come participate in the Hour of Code after hours at the library! L earn to create apps, video games, learn about Arduino and more, all while learning to code! Matt Monasch of Zynga and Katy Kasmai of Xocracry will be joining us as guest speakers this year.
Matt Monasch has worked on creating games for Zynga like Dojo Mojo and CityVille as is a self-described geek, programmer, and designer extraordinaire.
Katy Kasmai is the cofounder and CEO of Xocracy, a social media platform for voting online. She has over 15 years of experience in the tech industry and is active in the tech community in NYC. She is passionate about new technologies and moonshot projects, creating productive connections and building tech communities including one of the largest communities of Google Glass and Android Wear users, developers and designers.

Come to the library to find out about volunteer opportunities here and in the East Brunswick community! For teens 13-19, the East Brunswick Youth Council will be here among other volunteer opportunities from the library. The National Honors Society will be represented; the Youth Services department will speak about their volunteer needs; and the Teen Department will talk about TAG, Geek League, TLC, and the new Harry Potter Alliance among others. Teens who are interested in volunteering at the library starting in 2015, for any of our volunteer programs, must attend the volunteer fair. Meet our Dungeon Master David and play a round of Dungeons and Dragons! David has all the tools to teach even the most beginner players. We're playing D&D 3.5 David will also introduce Hackmaster, a game similar to D&D. Bring your own game pieces or play with the library's'.
