Meet Arnie Roy:
Daytime job: Engineer at Intel Corporation
How long have I been dancing: 6 months at the studio, I have performed Bollywood dance routines and hip hop performances before.
How I got started: I was referred to the studio by a friend (David) at work.

Meet Pavel Vakhlamov:
Pavel started dancing 9 months ago. He always wanted to learn to dance, but could not find the right place and desirable atmosphere until his friend Kyle suggested Double Time Dance Studio. Pavel is a graduate student in Environmental science program at UNM and enjoys sports and outdoors.

Meet Kyle Boe:
Kyle started dancing at Double Time in June 2013 having never danced a step in his life. He signed up for a class on a whim and ended up discovering a lifelong hobby. Kyle moved to Albuquerque from Minnesota in 2011 after finishing grad school to work as an engineer.

Meet Nicole Larsen:
Nicole has been singing and dancing since she was a little girl. She has always loved performing. She runs her own company called "Inspire" for kids in ABQ ranging from kindergarden age through High School. She is also a dedicated and talented musician.

Meet Mesa Lindgren:
Mesa sought out dance lessons after being introduced to Latin dance by her sister. Mesa started dancing at Double Time Dance studio a year ago through the UNM beginning salsa dance series. She is currently a busy second year law student at UNM Law school.

Meet Melanie Bunten:
Melanie started dancing two years ago as part of the UNM continuing education series.  I've always wanted to learn, but didn't know how to get started.  I enjoyed the UNM experience and continued to learn through group and private lessons through Double Time.  It is a much appreciated creative and healthy outlet to an otherwise busy life as a wife, mother of three, and full-time engineering career.

Meet Oceana Black Elk:
Oceana started dancing at Double Time last December. She has always loved to dance and would love to eventually be a dance teacher. She is currently the Director of Events at ABC Cake Shop, and also volunteer at the BioPark Zoo making enrichment items for the animals.

Meet Ryan and Holly Hlava-Cook:

Holly and Ryan met at the Marine Corps Ball on November 10, 2008. Each of them was there as a guest of the Marine Corps, Holly because of her volunteer work on the Toys for Tots program, and Ryan because of his interaction with the Marine Corps Reserves.

Holly had been dancing all night, and plopped into an empty seat near the dance floor to take a break and visit with a few of her friends sitting at the table. Ryan had stood up to talk to someone who came by his table. When he turned back around to sit down again - Holly was in his seat! He flirted with her all night, however failed to get her number! So he pestered the Marines for two months for Holly's telephone number! True to their word the Marines would not give it up, but did let Holly know that he was asking for her number. Holly recalls her friend Camilla saying, "Well, what do you have to lose?" So Holly and Ryan went on their first date in January of 2009.

In August of 2009 Ryan was deployed, for the second time, to Iraq for a year. He was home for about 2 years, then just recently returned from another long deployment to Afghanistan. Although deployments can be very difficult on relationships, this last deployment actually strengthened their bond. Upon his safe return from Afghanistan, Holly was out of excuses and finally gave into Ryan's recurring request... "Will you marry me?"!!!

Holly loves to dance and took formal dance training as a young girl all the way through high school. She continued taking dance lessons in college of all types - ballroom, Latin, country, and belly dancing! She has been taking classes at Double Time Dance Studio for several years now. Ryan does NOT like to dance and would absolutely refuse to get on the dance floor! So as part of the wedding planning Holly convinced Ryan to take country group lessons at Double Time. Ryan saw the flyer for the 'Wedding Dance' private classes, and after speaking with John and Adrienne he decided it was a good idea. Well the rest is history! Ryan now enjoys 'showing off' his dance skills to his friends and family - much to their surprise! As they all knew of his reticence to get out on the dance floor! Thanks to the amazing duo at Double Time Ryan now actually enjoys dancing!

New Additions to our Salsa Team

Meet Lara Shibata:

Lara has been dancing for only four months and has been enjoying ever moment! She got started dancing because it was something she always wanted to do and and has fun doing it!  When not dancing, Lara works in human resources for a company that supports individuals with developmental disabilities.

Meet Sam and Dawn Guitierrez:

Sam Gutierrez is a Native New Mexican. He started dancing almost two years ago studying Country Swing, Salsa and now Bachata. His work is Electrical Engineering for the Department of Defense which has allowed him world wide travel, but he is a thrill seeker at heart. His leasure time is filled with Art, Dancing, Skiing, Motorcycling, Rock Climbing, and of course Helicopters. Dancing, however; is by far one of his most emotionally dangerous activities!

Dawn Gutierrez has lived all over the US and in Europe as a member of a military family. She, however; has spent most of her life in NM. Her profession is accounting, and spends her leasure time doing arts, scrapbooking, and keeping Sam from the edge of thrill seeking. She began dancing almost two years ago using an on-line coupon from Double Time Dance Studio. She did not know that a simple coupon would start her adventure into learning, and now performing Salsa and Bachata.
