Data Visualization

The vehicle-for-hire industry continues to adapt to changes in technology, consumer preferences and marketplace competition. We think access to data is a powerful tool for making informed decisions about the industry. This summer DCTC will release a beta version of an interactive dashboard to show the number of vehicles in service, fares, trip volume, complaints, common traffic violations,  research reports and more. The intent is to develop new ideas, promote transparency, support accountability, and encourage safety and service improvements through further public engagement. Stay tuned for more.
Guidance For Compliance

Staying on top of regulations can be time consuming. In an effort to help the industry stay abreast of regulations and offer answers to stakeholder questions, DCTC periodically provides useful guidance with the publication of an Administrative Issuance (AI). The agency finds that the interpretation and direction is helpful for stakeholders. Topics of AIs may include identifying the forms needed to apply for a license, deadlines for the submitting information, and the means for compliance with regulations. Failure to comply with an AI may result in the denial of a license or an enforcement action under 31 DCMR ยง 703.

The six AIs in effect are:

The Return of a Legend

It has been eight years since guests arrived to stay at one of the best known venues in the District. This month welcomes back the legendary Watergate Hotel, still located at 2650 Virginia Ave NW (with an off street entrance just south of the 2600 office building). The renovated hotel will feature 336 rooms; a 27,000 square foot ballroom; 10,000 square feet of outdoor event space; and three dining options including an all new rooftop bar and lounge with breathtaking 360-degree views of the city.
