Summer Recap

After teaching a number of trainings this summer on the east and west coast, I finally have a moment to sit and write again.  Although I love what I do, especially spreading the benefits of Yoga for health and healing, I have been craving some time alone to reflect on the summer's events before I head back to Israel on August 21.

There is much to learn from every interaction I have experienced, whether it is from a shark I saw while swimming at the cove, to being with old friends, experiencing new students and studying with my favorite Yoga teachers in town.

I have been contemplating on something my Yoga-rockstar-Guru, Aman Keays, spoke about in class on Friday.  He pointed out the difference between a "Yoga workout" and a "Yoga Practice", which I think is especially relevant out here in North America where the focus is more on the external, rather than the internal.

It is remarkable, especially in San Diego, how much time we spend on fitness for the physical body.  I wonder what this world would be like if we all spent at least as much time on our subtle body including our meditation and pranayama practice? How would that change the fabric of our society and our own inner experience of everything and everyone around us?

While traveling, it has been challenging to keep up with the practice I had established at home and I definitely feel the difference in terms of less balance, more anxiety & stress.  Next month, in my mentorship program, our focus will be pranayama, meditation and restoratives.  Thank goodness!  I hope to focus on this along with my students...would you like to join us?

Make September a month where you dedicate time, discipline and energy to cultivating more inner peace - and really work out that subtle body.  Email me if you need some guidance on how to do this.

There is one more thing that I would like to share with you this month.  I have been approached by a lovely Yogini, Esther Elfasi, in Israel who is struggling to keep her Yoga studio alive so that it can be a haven for women to be nourished and to learn how to teach others about the benefits of Yoga. I will be teaching at this studio and hopefully will be leading retreats there as well.

Our goal is to work together, to provide a space where we can heal the world, one individual at a time. But Esther's space is in dire need of repair and she cannot do this on her own.  She is reaching out for help.

Part of the path of Yoga is Karma Yoga - the Yoga of Giving & Selfless Service. This is an opportunity for you to help and be a part of the solution in a beautiful & conflicted country, Israel, which has become my new home.

Funds are needed ASAP in the form of a loan or offering.  Please email me at [email protected] if you can help in any way.

I will be flying back to Israel this Thursday morning.  It has been such a blessed time to be back in San Diego.  I hope to see you soon when I return this winter.

With love and gratitude,
