Pro-Life Citizens Will be at Capitol This Morning Showing Appreciation for Gov. John Bel Edwards
While Planned Parenthood will gather to protest Gov. John Bel Edwards' signing of HB 606, which prevents organizations that perform abortions from receiving tax dollars, a small group of pro-life citizens will assemble at the State Capitol from 10:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to show their appreciation to to the governor for his pro-life leadership this session. The pro-life gathering was originally scheduled to be held near the Governor's Mansion, but due to security concerns, State Police asked pro-life citizens to gather at the Capitol instead.

Benjamin Clapper, Executive Director of Louisiana Right to Life, said today: "As Cecile Richards confirmed last week, Planned Parenthood has built an abortion facility in New Orleans, and we know they will do everything in their power to sell abortions in Louisiana.  At the same time, Gov. Edwards is about to sign HB 606 into law, a bill he spearheaded to ensure tax dollars cannot subsidize abortion businesses. Now, Planned Parenthood is protesting Gov. Edwards because they know HB 606 interferes with their business model of selling abortion with one hand and collecting governmental income for other services with the other. We have encouraged pro-lifers to peacefully gather to show their support for Gov. Edwards' common-sense policies to protect Louisiana taxpayers. Louisiana Right to Life is appreciative of Gov. Edwards pro-life leadership this legislative session."
