Contact Ministries Partners With Kings Daughters

The mission of King's Daughters Organization is to aid the elderly in our community through both direct volunteering and financial support by way of our grant program. They have entrusted us with a grant for $18,000 to disperse over the coming year to individuals 55 years old and older with their prescriptions.  We want to thank them for partnering with us to help our communities seniors to have a better quality of life!!
Volunteer of the Month                      Tiffany Desyllass
Tiffany, pictured with her son MJ, volunteers by providing a themed birthday cake with ice cream and a gift for each child that lives in the Transitional Shelter.  She takes the time to make sure the kids get a cake that is unique to them.  The smiles on the faces of these children when they see their cake with their name on it is a special moment.  Tiffany shows up in a big way on a big day in the life of our kids that live here at Contact Ministries. The internationally renowned Christian author, Henri Nouwen says  "Birthdays are so important. On our birthdays we celebrate being alive. On our birthdays people can say to us, Thank you for being!"  Tiffany's gift help s make sure each child feels special on their birthday.
Capital City Car Club                              Car Give-Away

Capital City Car Club partnered with Contact Ministries again this year for it's 3rd Annual Car Giveaway.  Pictured, is the beautiful van that was purchased and restored by the club's members.  They generously gave the van to a family of 5 who previously lived in our shelter and had a great need for transportation to continue on a successful path.  Thank you to all the members and supporters of the car club for blessing one of our families in this way!!

United Way, "Day of Action" Volunteers!!

Twice a year United Way organizes "Day of Action" where community members spend the day volunteering at local organizations. Contact Ministries is always blessed with a great group that comes out and works on various projects.  Last week, the "Day of Action" volunteers, who all work for Wells Fargo, helped out as personal shoppers, sorted donations in the Basement Boutique, babysat the kids in playroom and revamped the outside of the building and playground. The staff and families at Contact Ministries really appreciate all your time and effort!!

Needed...Backpack Drives
Yes, school is almost out for the summer, but we are already preparing for when classes return in the fall! If you are looking for a way to support the families and clients at Contact Ministries we are in need of new and used backpacks for grades 1 through 12.

Backpack Drives are a great way for groups to spend time serving the community. If you are interested in organizing a drive or have any questions about our current needs please call Contact Ministries at 217-753-3939.

Cherry Hill's
Baptist Church

Cherry Hills has been a generous supporter of Contact Ministries for over 15 years! Cherry Hills has blessed Contact Ministries in many different ways. For over 8 years, various small groups have brought  meals once a month to our shelters. The groups not only bring the meals but serve the families and fellowship with them to build positive relationships.  The church is a big supporter of our annual Christmas Program providing food, other essential items, hats, coats and gloves, as well as help providing hams for over 750 families.

We are truly grateful for everything Cherry Hills Baptist Church does to helps us continue impacting lives for Christ!
