Dear Families and Friends of OLQP:
Here at OLQP, the testing boxes are being packed and prepared to ship. Teachers and students are wrapping up curriculum goals and enjoying enrichment activities. Teachers and staff are getting excited about "Reading Week" and going "all out" to inspire students to love reading and become life-long learners. You may see the OLQP bus on the road coming and going. Classes are enjoying "classrooms on location" as they travel to destinations designed to provide hands-on learning in a variety of locales. Some of the field experiences include trips to Forest Glen, Camp Kappe, the Holocaust Museum, the San Jacinto Monument, Matagorda Bay Nature Park, Crocodile Encounters, and the George Ranch.
During morning prayer, we have been focusing on the scriptural sources for the beautiful prayer we say most days during the school year, the Hail Mary.
"Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you," comes from Luke 1:28.
"Blessed art thou among women," comes from Luke 1:41-42a and Luke 1:48.
"Blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus," is from Luke 1:42b.
"
Holy Mary, Mother of God," again is from
Luke 1:43.
"Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death," can be referenced to Luke 2:35, John
2:5, and Rev. 2:10.
As Catholics, we believe that prayer is a powerful gift and that our friends in Heaven join with us in praying for God's grace and mercy. So let us continue, as a community, to delve into the gifts that God has given us as we pray for each other, our school, our country, and the world in a special year during this Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy.
"More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of.
Wherefore, let thy voice rise like a fountain for me night and day." (Tennyson)
Thank you for being part of the OLQP family.
