Why Do We Need A Climate March ?

This September the UN will host a historic gathering of world leaders for its Climate Change Summit. These leaders will be gathered to develop a plan for addressing one of the most important challenges facing the world today, climate change. And so people from around the country are gathering in New York City on September 21, 2014 to march and let the world leaders know that we are watching and that we expect them to deliver an agreement that pushes for critical reductions in the use of global warming pollutants.

Climate change poses an enormous threat to God's creation, and people of faith must respond. And the People's Climate March, taking place here in September, is our chance to lead by standing with people from different faith traditions to demand that our government do its part to address this critical issue.

What Your Congregation Can Do !
March !
The PCM is on a Sunday morning and we're asking you to go in large numbers. We've heard over and over again that there are times worship God with prayers and there are times to worship with actions. This march is one of those time when our actions will be form of worship and our prayers will be done with our feet. Therefore we ask that your congregation commission 8-10 leaders to go to the  march.  SIGN UP TO MARCH with us or for more info email: lori@hudrivpres.org

Pre/Post March Interfaith Services
Fellowship with other marchers at one of the interfaith. There will be a pre-march service in the park on Sunday morning and a post march service at St. John the Divine starting at 6pm. Details for both events can be found on the calendar.

Open Your Doors !
If you can't come to the PCM, how about opening your doors to house some of the thousands of people who will be coming into the area from around the country ? Can the church set up an area in the parish house or sanctuary for people to roll out their sleeping bags  and stay warm and dry?  do you have a fold out couch ?

If you're willing to provide some hospitality please email: lori@hudrivpres.org or use the link below to sign up.
