2015 Drawing Highlights from Torrey Architecture

Looking back on the 2015 calendar year, our drawings have served our clients in diverse and fulfilling ways. We hope you will take a moment in this New Year to peruse the sampling of images below from our drawn and built 2015 portfolio of architecture. We are looking forward to turning these drawings into completed projects in 2016 and to new opportunities in Creating and Transforming Spaces with you in 2016.
Creating and Transforming Places for Living

Drawings for our residential clients conceptualized, detailed and implemented transformations of single family residences around New England. Some saw realization (with joyous move-in and occupancy) while others began the local approval process for permitting. www.houzz.com/projects

Our Drawings for corporate and institutional users got the job done along with our engineering collaborators, resulting in lively completed workspaces, inspirational designs within historical contexts, and successful design reviews from local planning boards and Historic Landmarks Commissions.

Creating and Transforming Places for Gathering

Our drawings for Houses of Worship have served their congregational leaders by inspiring capital campaigns for universal access, space planning renovations/additions and historic preservation. Our drawings have facilitated budgeting, contractual bidding and building/Historic District Commission approvals.

Archival Documentation of an Architectural Treasure

Lastly, our most unique project of 2015 was to quickly and carefully document select portions of the 1883 Charles G. Loring House by William Ralph Emerson, a masterpiece of the Shingle Style, prior to its demolition to make way for a new house on Boston's North Shore. Our largely pro-bono work for the Friends of the Loring House (in collaboration with Boston's North Bennett Street School) now survives as the archival record of as-built conditions for future exhibit reconstruction of salvaged building elements now in storage for the MFA/PEM and the Smithsonian Institution's National Building Museum.
