Greetings from the CCC Program!

Dear WI Comprehensive Cancer Control Partner,

Looking through this year's series of monthly newsletters, 2015 was a very busy year for the WI CCC Program and our partners. We look forward to another busy year in 2016 as we continue to implement the WI CCC Plan 2015-2020. Continue to read our newsletters to stay updated on important cancer control information and opportunities.

In the spirit of the holiday season, we would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to all of our partners and WI Cancer Council members for their dedication and determination to reduce the burden of cancer in Wisconsin. We could not do this work without each and every one of you.

We hope you have a splendid holiday season!

December 2015 ICYMI: In Case You Missed It
In a recent article published in  Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, authors from the Harvard Medical School and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute found that physicians recommended the "HPV vaccine inconsistently, behind schedule, or without urgency." Authors suggest these findings can support improvements in HPV vaccine communication.

American adults who are uninsured or on Medicaid smoke at rates more than double those for adults with private health insurance or Medicare, according to a study published by the CDC in November 12th's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR).

In a recent article,  USA Today shared stories from Rural America that depict cancer's toll on our country's least populated areas.

A journal supplement dedicated to Cancer Survivorship will appear in the December issue of the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. The articles will include public health models for serving the increasing number of cancer survivors, research about the current survivors, and resources.

A recent article published in the Journal of the American Medical Association suggests an association between increased detection of early stage cervical cancers and the Affordable Care Act's rule to allow adults aged 19-25 to remain on their parents' health insurance. The authors recommend continued monitoring of "cancer care and outcomes in populations targeted by the ACA."

CCC Plan Update is a monthly publication of the Wisconsin Comprehensive Cancer Control Program and the Wisconsin Cancer Council. Its purpose is to share information on cancer prevention and control as it relates to our partners in Wisconsin.
