The conversation will focus on the Devonshire contemporary collection at Chatsworth and one of the most significant recent additions to it, Jacob van der Beugel's site-specific ceramic installation, The North Sketch Sequence. This is the most ambitious permanent art installation ever to be created for a Grade I listed house. Made up of 659 handmade ceramic panels, the work depicts the DNA sequence of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. This fascinating talk between the Duke of Devonshire and artist Jacob van der Beugel, will be discussing Chatsworth, its historic art collection, and the process and inspiration of creating such a prolific example of contemporary portraiture. The introduction by Agent and Curator Joanna Bird will highlight the engaging dynamic between artist and patron.
