First Responder Grants - 704.540.0981 - Your Key to Funding

An effective, competitive grant application is supported by solid facts and data. But where do you find all those stats and figures?

We maintain a list of grant writing resources that steer you to where you can find the data you need. From critical infrastructure to population demographics, crime stats to fire service cost savings, bookmark this list for where to go when you need the facts.

Here are 5 resources to look at right now for your next grant application:

  • American FactFinder. Your source for population, housing, economic, and geographic data from the U.S. Census. The NEW American FactFinder website includes the latest data from Census 2010 and the 2010 American Community Survey.
  • City-Data.com. Discover information about your county, city and state. City-Data.com provides stats and data on real estate, census, demographics, critical infrastructure, economic characteristics, cost of living, crime, race, income, photos, education, maps, weather, houses, schools, neighborhoods, and more. From the main page, enter the name of your town, city or state.
  • Fed Stats. Your gateway to statistics from over 100 U.S. Federal agencies.
  • FBI Uniform Crime Reports (UCR). Reliable, uniform crime statistics for the nation, compiled by the FBI. Includes reports such as Crime in the United States, Hate Crime Statistics, and Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted. Also includes information about the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS).
  • Cost Savings Calculators for VFDs and EMS. Figure out how much money your department saves the community. These calculators also provide resources for presenting data to the municipalities who fund your department. Use the calculators to make the case for increased community and governmental support of your department, or use this data in your grant applications. Developed by the NVFC Foundation for both volunteer fire departments and volunteer emergency medical services.

$900M Since 1998
Since 1998, our Certified Grants Consultants have helped America's public safety agencies win over $900M in grant funding.

"I am honored to have been mentored by Kurt Bradley. He has inspired me to initiate the grant process for our fire department. Looks like another successful grant for us, to the tune of $7.6M for staffing. Thank you again, Kurt."

"Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your class and the quality of it. It was definitely a great investment. I took the class just over a year ago with Mr. Bradley in Marana, AZ. Since then I have only written a few grants, but I have still managed to secure over $1M in grant monies for my department. I still have not had a grant fully turned down for funding yet. For the price of your class, that's over a 2,500% return on our investment in just one year. Can't even do that in the stock market (especially in this economy). Keep up the good work!"

"I have no one to thank but YOU! You are the one that gave me the guidance and what was needed to be so successful in being awarded an Assistance to Firefighters Grant. Both myself and my department greatly appreciate all your help which enabled us to update and expand our department's equipment and services."
