ARE YOU READY TO

'ROCK THE BLOCK' TIFTON?

Summer kicks off early Saturday night, May 16, in Downtown Tifton as folks "Rock the Block."

From 5-9 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park downtown, live music, craft vendors, a classic car cruise in and cold beverages will be available. No coolers or glass is allowed; The Local Kitchen & Bar will set up a beverage stand.

Tracie Victoria Mattox, a Blackshear native recording her first album., takes the stage at 5 p.m. Mattox has become a grassroots favorite with 8,000 YouTube subscribers. She has performed at Tifton's Rhythm & Ribs festival.

The IveyWest Band headlines the night, taking the stage at Veterans Park at about 6:30 p.m. Based in Jacksonville, Fla., the band has roots in country and rock and has played at venues throughout the Southeast. The band recently released a live album and has become a regional favorite by mixing a story-telling spirit with energetic and gritty rock.

"It will be a great night and it will be great to see a lot of activity downtown," said Tyron Spearman, executive director of the Tifton-Tift County Tourism Association. "A lot of our downtown merchants are staying open late that night so everybody can enjoy the music, get something to eat and do a little shopping. There will be something for everyone."

The City of Tifton and the Tifton-Tift County Tourism Association are sponsoring the event.
