What's the new crystal radio?
It seems (based on your stories) that a huge number of electronics hobbyists got hooked when they built their first crystal radio set at a young age. Fascination with this seemingly magical device launched many a career and even more lifelong hobbyists were born. Times have changed (or have they?) and you don't hear too much from youngsters about building crystal sets anymore, so what is it today that inspires and fascinates people to get involved in tech hobbies and careers? In other words, what's the new crystal radio?

Congratulations
to Jim Warakois, the winner of our last newsletter's storytelling prize. Jim will be getting an R Cube talking alarm clock kit from our stash. It turns out that we have a few more on hand, so we'll throw in another one (winner to be picked at random) from those who weigh in on this week's question.

PICAXE Primer (our bad)
It seems that some wires got crossed (electronics pun intended) and Part 2 of the two part PICAXE Primer was printed in the April issue of Nuts & Volts before Part 1. So, we've posted Part 1 on our website for those who are following along with the BBQ Smoker project. You can find Part 2 in the April print edition of N&V.

And thanks again ExpressPCB. You guys rock!

That's it, Enjoy!
Crosley Radio Corporation_s 1936 _WLW Model Super-Power Radio Receiver_
The Colossus of Radio

This achievement impressed Powel Crosley, Jr. - the President of the Crosley Radio Corporation - who praised it as a fine example of quality in radio construction, and was inspired to surpass Zenith by bringing the world the largest and most powerful radio receiver yet known.
