Spring Break STEM Camp
April 25th - 30th - Alpine Scout Camp

Boy Scouts age 12-18 can attend this Spring Break specialty camp.  From Monday, April 25th  to Sat urday the 30th,  up to 40 youth can come challenge themselves by teaming up with others, and working with our energized in-house staff and cadre of outside professionals.
Special guest presenters will be on hand to share their expertise.

April 25th, 12:00pm - 2:00pm

*150 Cub Scouts
*50 Boy Scouts
*24 parent participants.  
Slots are allotted on a first-come, first-serve basis. l ast year we held a waiting list nearly as long as the entry list! 

The cost of this event will be $10 per youth or parent participants.  This event is open to any GNYC Scout across New York City. The NTC is easy to reach via the 7 Train at the Met's-Willet's Point station.

Greater New York Council News
Lions are coming to GNYC!

The Greater New York Councils has been approved to be a pilot for the Lions program for boys enrolled in Kindergarten. We will begin registering Lions Dens in September. More information will follow over the coming months on training for the new Lions program.

Quartararo Receives Silver Beaver Award

At last month's Annual Meeting, GNYC presented outgoing Council President Raymond Quartararo with the Silver Beaver Award - the highest honor a Council can bestow upon a volunteer . Ray provided invaluable leadership throughout his tenure as Council President, helping GNYC to continually increase membership, balance operating budget, grow the Council's Endowment and fund capital improvements at all three Scout Camps.  Ray and his fellow 2016 Silver Beaver Recipients will be recognized at our Annual Silver Beaver Gathering on Sept. 29th.

The National Jamboree has been a BSA tradition since 1937 and Scouts that attend rank it as one of their top experiences in Scouting. In 2013, the National Jamboree moved to its new permanent home at  The Summit  in West Virginia. There Scouts can participate in whitewater rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, bouldering, mountain biking, skateboarding, BMX, shooting sports and zip-line courses.
STEM Robotics Workshop Eagle Project

Ethan Ngai, a Boy Scout in Troop 349 of Forest Hills, held a STEM Robotics Workshop for 2 nd  to 5 th  graders in Public School 144.
