Hope is

Not A Plan

The video, "Hope is Not A Plan" is now available on the website, in our blog and at Vimeo.com. This film should be required viewing for everyone, whether you have a disability or not. Why, you ask? Simple. Most of us will, at some time in our lives, become disabled in some way. The fact is that those of us with disabilities have no civil rights when compared to those of us who are not disabled. This should resonate with every Canadian. No disability? Your time may come. Do you want your rights? Watch the video.

An election is almost on us, and we need to discuss civil rights for people with disabilities with politicians. People with disabilities do not have a way to enforce civil rights in British Columbia, or indeed anywhere in Canada. This must change!

View the video. Pass the link around. It's less than an hour long, and it can have a huge, and a positive, impact - if enough people see it!

Greetings!

A Day of Pos-Abilities is coming up fast! We need your help. We have two places where you can help:

1. We need volunteers at the event (July15). The old saying that there are no free lunches does not apply! We're arranging to have lunch provided to our volunteers. Free. So much for old sayings!

You don't have to be there for the full day (we'd love you to be, but if you can't, you can't and even a couple of hours will be appreciated).

2. We need volunteers to learn how to put the Wheelchair Obstacle Course together. This event happens July 6 from 10 AM to 2 PM. Must be able to lift and carry 25 kg.

At this point, we need people to step up. Laying back and saying "they'll get lots of volunteers, I don't need to call" won't help. We need lots of people to call. e may fill up quickly, but hey, belonging to a Society like ours is about helping, even in the smallest way. If you can spare even a couple of hours at the Day of Pos-Abilities, it would really help. If you can spare the time to learn how to assemble the Wheelchair Obstacle Course, that would be great as well (you have to be able to be there from 10 - 2). either, both, whatever you can do. We'll be grateful.

Please call me and tell me if you can help:
