Passport to Financial Wellness: How to Play

Get ready for the Passport to Financial Wellness program, a fun new program coming in April to help you learn more about managing your finances and making sure you're prepared for the big game: retirement. Here's how to pick your Final Four and play:

1) To participate in the program, you attend two mandatory education seminars:
  • 401(a) Educational Seminar
  • 457(b) Educational Seminar
2) To get your passport properly "stamped," you will also pick two more investment seminars to attend. Your choices include:
Juggling Financial Goals:
  • Learn about how to save for multiple things - a house, car, college, emergency fund, retirement
  • Paying down debt
  • Basic steps to help you organize and reach your goals
Get to Know Your Roth 457 Options (about the Roth, or after-tax, contributions option):
  • Learn about Roth 457 contributions and conversions, which give you another tax-advantaged option in your 457 plan
  • Discover how Roth 457 helps you benefit from tax-free withdrawals
  • Evaluate whether Roth 457 makes sense for you
Your Saving and Investing Goals:
  • Learn how to set goals related to how much you save
  • Set goals for how you invest
  • Explore how to make these goals more realistic for you
Build Your Investment Portfolio:
  • Discuss approaches to selecting your investments
  • Review strategies that can help you with these choices
  • Find the right balance of risk and reward in a diversified portfolio
3) To register for the seminars:
  • Register on PeopleSoft (Courses will be available effective 04/1/2016).
  • Register at your agency HR Department.
  • View the schedule of seminars at www.dcretire.com/education and click Event Registration.
4) Pick up a passport.
  • Obtain a passport from a local representative at the first seminar you attend.
5) Turn in your passport to be eligible for giveaways!
  • Get four stamps in your passport, and you'll receive a USB charger for your smartphone!
  • Get four or more stamps in your passport to be entered into the Grand Prize drawing!
    • One winner will receive an iPad Mini!
    • Five winners will receive FitBits!
eDelivery of Your Quarterly Statements
Liberate your retirement from needless paper documents! Switch to electronic delivery of your quarterly statements and transaction confirmations for your 401(a) Retirement Plan and 457(b) Deferred Compensation Plan.

This process eliminates the need for statements and transaction confirmations to be delivered by mail, which means fast, secure, and convenient access to your documents from any location with an Internet connection.

Did You Know? eDelivery saves more than 1 million sheets of paper each year.

To sign up for eDelivery:
  1. Log into Account Access: visit www.dcretire.com and enter your user ID and password in the box in the upper right.
  2. At the bottom of the left menu, click My Profile.
  3. If you need to add or change your email address, in the Email Address section, select Edit.
  4. In the My Profile menu (bottom left), select Services. In the eDelivery Options section, click either Sign Up (to register for eDelivery) or Update (to change your email address).
You may switch back to paper delivery at any time by updating your delivery options through Account Access or by contacting Investor Services at 1-800-669-7400.
Update Your Personal Information

The District is asking employees to please review and update your personal information on the ICMA-RC website. Log into  PeopleSoft  today to update your address. If your date of hire is incorrect, see your HR Advisor to have the information corrected in PeopleSoft.
