The SHJ Vision Project is moving along on schedule. The Vision Project Committee (VPC) is eagerly awaiting the delivery of the final report and recommendations from our consultant, Alan Levy of Goaltrac, early in January.
Alan presented his findings from the survey, interviews and focus group at our October Board meeting. Following his presentation, the Board participated in a working session identifying the most significant issues of concern and ideas for resolving those issues. Alan is using the information from the Board meeting work along with discussions with organizations similar to the SHJ such as Unitarian-Universalists, Sunday Assembly and the Secular Student Alliance and other research to compile his final report.
A Transition Team has been established to take the project to the next steps. The VPC will work closely with the Transition Team in January discussing the final report and suggestions. A full Board teleconference will be held to expand the discussion. In February, the VPC will disband. The Transition Team will then develop recommendations and considerations for implementation which will be distributed to the Board prior to the April Board meeting. The major focus of the Spring Board meeting will be to establish priorities and begin the implementation of the new vision for the Society.
Stay tuned for more information on SHJ's new directions. As our president, Larry Lawrence stated, "We are committed to
expanding the base of involvement, as well as creating more transparency at SHJ." The SHJ is your organization and we will succeed going forward with your active participation and dedication to the principles of Secular Humanistic Judaism.
