Green Schools National Network...Bigger and Better than Ever!

We've kept big things in mind as we have been dreaming about the future of the Green Schools National Network (GSNN) and the 2016 Green Schools Conference and Expo , formerly known as the Green Schools National Conference...

Rob Shumer, a lecturer at the University of Minnesota, shares how service learning differs from community service and why it is essential to the green schools movement.  

A chance encounter at a parent information meeting led to the development of Harborside Academy's Food and Justice for All program, a service learning-focused curriculum that addresses food access and security in the community of Kenosha, WI.  Since its inception, the program has received local, state, and national recognition, and the students' efforts have helped feed thousands of their neighbors. 

Nourish is an educational initiative that is designed to open a meaningful conversation about food and sustainability, particularly in schools and communities.  Read on to learn how Nourish is using food literacy to catalyze action by students in their communities.
Community Works Institute (CWI) is leading the way for a shift in how service-learning is presented as part of a school's curriculum.  Through its work, CWI is emphasizing the role of place-based education, with service-learning as the strategy, for creating sustainable communities.
