 Year-end Avionics Market Report shows $2.4 Billion in 2015 Sales
The Aircraft Electronics Association released its 2015 year-end Avionics Market Report.
Total worldwide business and general aviation avionics sales for the year amounted to
$2,416,438,987.42, or more than $2.4 billion
. The figure represented a 4.4 percent decrease in sales compared to the previous year as reported by the participating companies in 2014.

ICAO Council Prohibits Lithium-ion Cargo Shipments on Passenger Aircraft
The 36-state ICAO Governing Council adopted a new aviation safety measure on Feb. 22, which prohibits, on an interim basis, all shipments of lithium-ion batteries as cargo on passenger aircraft. The Council's decision will be effective April 1, 2016. It pertains only to lithium-ion batteries shipped as cargo on passenger aircraft, and not to those contained in personal electronic devices carried by passengers or crew. It comes subsequent to extensive reviews undertaken by the ICAO Air Navigation Commission, and the UN agency's Dangerous Goods, Flight Operations, and Airworthiness panels. According to the ICAO, the prohibiting of lithium-ion cargo shipments on passenger aircraft has been eagerly awaited by aircraft manufacturer and pilots associations, which have been the most vocal advocates for the new safety measure.

DUNCAN AVIATION
completed supplemental type certification for installation of an ADS-B Out solution for Citation 560/560XL/Ultra and Encore aircraft equipped with Honeywell's Primus radio system. The company also selected TROY NAIL as the newest Airframe Service sales representative for Challenger and Global aircraft models.
AVIDYNE extended its licensing agreement with Extant Aerospace of Melbourne, Florida, to provide exclusive aftermarket repair and exchange support for Avidyne's Entegra EXP5000 primary flight displays. In addition, Avidyne announced a strategic partnership with Globalstar Inc. to develop and certify satellite-based Internet and voice communications products for the aviation market. These new solutions, to be exclusively provided by Avidyne to aircraft manufacturers and through Avidyne's worldwide dealer network, will leverage Globalstar's second-generation satellite network, boasting the fastest data speeds in the Mobile Satellite Services industry.
FLIGHTSAFETY INTERNATIONAL announced that training for Sikorsky S-76C+and S-76C++ helicopters will be offered in Singapore starting in March 2016. In addition, the company will design and manufacture an Airbus A320 full flight simulator for Wisesoft Corp. of Chengdu, China. This will be the fourth Airbus A320 simulator FlightSafety has provided to Wisesoft. The company also announced that its Dassault Falcon 2000LXS simulator has received Level D qualification from the European Aviation Safety Agency and the Federal Aviation Administration. And finally, the company announced Level D qualification of its fourth full flight simulator for the Gulfstream G650 aircraft.
HERON AERO SOLUTIONS launched certification services for aircraft modifications and equipment manufacturers.
VECTOR AEROSPACE entered into an exclusive long-term engine service agreement with JNP Enterprises, owner of Broome Air Services, based in Western Australia, and Hinterland Aviation, based in Queensland, Australia. Vector Aerospace also introduced a new dynamic component repair capability for the Airbus Helicopters AS350 Ecureuil family at its Almondbank site in Perth, Scotland.
UNIVERSAL AVIONICS SYSTEMS CORP. said the first of two Universal Avionics-equipped Fairchild C-26 Metroliner aircraft has been delivered to the customer. The upgrade was completed by Worldwide Aircraft Services of Springfield, Missouri, with program management provided by W4 Limited of Fort Worth, Texas. In addition, the United States Marine Corps Reserve selected Universal Avionics MFD-640 Multi-Function Display for their fleet of KC-130T aircraft.
FLIGHTSTAR CORP. obtained an FAA STC
to provide a single Universal Avionics UNS-1Ew FMS with LPV capability in the Learjet 40 and Learjet 45 series aircraft.
This STC allows for the replacement of an existing single FMS system with a Universal Avionics UNS-1Ew along with a Universal Avionics LPV Monitor system.
GULFSTREAM AEROSPACE CORP. was listed first by JETNET's latest iQ Report in its brand reputations of aircraft manufacturers survey for Asia Pacific. In addition, Gulfstream will play host to a schedule of customer support events in 2016, including its biennial weeklong Operators and Suppliers Conference, two Customer Advisory Board meetings and nine operators forums. Gulfstream also completed its 5,000th airborne support flight, achieving the milestone more than 13 years after Gulfstream launched business aviation's first airborne maintenance and support service in May 2002. The company also noted that the fourth Gulfstream G500 test aircraft, T4, has completed its first flight and officially joined the G500 flight-test program. And finally, Gulfstream said that the G600 iron bird recently completed its "first flight," demonstrating the company's continued commitment to research and development and the growing maturity of the G600 aircraft program.

STANDARDAERO was awarded a new contract to provide support for the U.S. Army Special Forces Aviation Group's engine maintenance, repair and overhaul services for its fleet of eight C-27J aircraft.

328 DESIGN GmbH achieved the first STC for the Dassault Falcon 50EX from the FAA under the FAA/EASA bilateral safety agreement.
ASTRONICS commended the FAA's General Aviation Joint Steering Committee for recent statements in support of enhanced vision technology to improve general aviation safety in situations involving weather, night, smoke and other obstructions to vision.
