The Fall Meeting is ISEA's largest national meeting. It is a time for product groups and committees to do the essential work of the association - developing standards, formulating policy positions and planning for the future. This year, ISEA will honor retired IAFF legend Richard Duffy with the Robert B. Hurley Distinguished Service Award, at the association's annual Award Dinner. 

 
ISEA is seeking public comment on draft revisions to its voluntary consensus standards for high-visibility safety apparel and hand protection selection.

The high cost of the proper fall protection equipment and the training required to properly wear and use the equipment in the performance of one's duty is a major concern for many in the construction industry.


U.S. construction spending rose in September to the highest level in 7-1/2 years as both private and public outlays increased, suggesting a modest upward revision to the third-quarter GDP growth estimate.

In May, 2015, the Department of Labor (DOL) issued a proposed guidance document for its personnel on complying with Executive Order 13673, Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces. The document is not yet finalized, however, it does offer insights into how OSHA and other agencies within the DOL intend to interpret and act upon the Order. 

 
"Falls remain the leading cause of death and injury on construction sites. It is inexcusable for employers to not provide fall protection," said Eric Brooks, OSHA's area director in Bismarck.
