Join us for a dinner featuring a talk on
"How to Safely Double your Oil Life
through Antioxidant Replenishment"
Speaker - Greg Livingstone
Executive Vice President
Fluitec International, Bayonne, NJ
Abstract: Sacrificial antioxidants play a critical role in determining the life and performance of turbine oils. The vast majority of the time when these oils are changed, the base stock is still healthy but the fluid is condemned because of low oxidative stability. Simply replacing the antioxidants in an in-service turbine oil instead of dumping and recharging the system with new fluid can provide significant cost savings, risk reduction and performance benefits. However in order to do this safely, the process is far from simple. This paper reviews how to determine if antioxidant replenishment is suitable and if so, how the life of turbine oil can be doubled.
Biography: Greg has been involved with lubrication contamination control and condition monitoring his entire career. He's a Certified Lubrication Specialist and has held industry leadership roles in several committees, including ASTM's Turbine Oil Analysis and Problem Solving committee and STLE's Power Generation, Conditioning Monitoring and Wind Turbine technical groups. Livingstone has authored more than 50 published papers focused on lubricant management.

Slewing Ring: Storage, Application and Maintenance
Presented by: Navdeep Swach
Bio: Employed at ArcelorMittal Dofasco since 2011 as a Senior Specialist in Rotating Equipment and Tribology. He is also site's Lubrication Engineering Specialist and is CLS Certified. Abstract: Slewing Rings are thin-section rotational rolling element bearing that are used for heavy, slow-turning and /or oscillating load equipment. Examples of applications include Horizontal Axis Windmill, Steelmaking Caster Turrets and Mobile Cranes. These bearings are often integrated with gear teeth (either on the inner or outer race) and a pinion is used to drive them. This presentation deals with their long-term storage requirements, key parameters that must be inspected when they are installed are and what are some of the preventive and corrective maintenance techniques that can be used to increase their service life.
