Back in the 1950s, Bob Merrill wrote the hit song, "How Much is that Doggie in the Window?" Today, metaphorically speaking, that doggie in the window is your data! Others see that you have data, and look at it longingly. If only it were for sale! Can you safely make your data available to others and reap some extra revenue? The panel, "Cashing in on Your Data" will discuss how CIOs might be able to do just that. Why are data scientists soooo sexy? You may think that data science is all about statistics, algorithms, massive datasets and machine learning, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Data science is also about running large-scale experiments to surmise every intimate detail about how you walk, talk, look, feel and vote. Norbert Wiener, Professor of Mathematics at MIT, once said that, "Progress imposes not only new possibilities for the future but new restrictions." Understanding the opportunities and challenges inherent in "Big Data" experiments that leverage modern analytics is the topic of this the breakout "The Future (and Potential) of Large-Scale Digital Experiments. |
