 International Avionics Sales Exceed $1.7 Billion in First Nine Months of 2015
The Aircraft Electronics Association recently released its third-quarter 2015 Avionics Market Report. In the three-month period of July, August and September 2015, total worldwide business and general aviation avionics sales amounted to $581,810,699.00, or more than $581 million. The figure represented a 5.3 percent decrease in sales compared to the third-quarter 2014 amount of $614,406,537.56, or more than $614 million as reported a year ago by the participating companies. In the first nine months of the year, total worldwide business and general aviation avionics sales amounted to $1,774,430,593.32, or more than $1.7 billion. This marked a 7.5 percent decrease in year-over-year sales compared to the first nine months of 2014, which was more than $1.9 billion. "Unfortunately, the report shows some softness in sales this quarter and in the current year," said AEA President Paula Derks. "With a year-over-year sales decline of 7.5 percent, clearly, our industry continues to face some economic challenges that may be primarily related to the strength of the U.S. dollar in the international markets. In addition, while the FAA reports that the ADS-B equipage pace has grown in the past year, it has not resulted in a similar increase in total avionics sales. The AEA will continue to monitor these and other economic forces moving forward."

 1,000 Days: An Open Letter to Business Aviation Aircraft Operators
In the most recent edition of Avionics News, Ric Peri, AEA vice president of government and industry affairs, penned an open letter to owners and operators of business aviation aircraft about the FAA's 2020 mandate for ADS-B equipage, which is now just more than 1,000 workdays away. With the NBAA Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas scheduled for later this month, Peri's message regarding the mandate was simple: Talk to your avionics provider; plan your upgrade; and most important, schedule your installation.

 Pilot's Guide to Avionics Available at NBAA Convention & Exhibition
Published annually by the Aircraft Electronics Association, the 2015-16 edition of the Pilot's Guide to Avionics will be available with free distribution at the National Business Aviation Association's Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas, Nevada, Nov. 17-19. AEA staff members will distribute hundreds of free copies to industry professionals at the AEA's booth, No. C6930. Additional copies will be available to all attendees at the show's publication bins. This year marks the 13th annual edition of the Pilot's Guide to Avionics, a consumer's directory loaded with educational articles, timely information and data about the wonderful world of avionics technologies. The publication helps pilots and aircraft owners make better buying decisions and locate nearly 1,300 AEA member companies in 43 countries, including government-certified repair stations around the world specializing in maintenance, repair and installation of avionics and electronic systems in general aviation aircraft. It also includes the manufacturers and distributors of these products, as well as technical schools and universities, engineers and consultants for the industry.

VECTOR AEROSPACE recently completed a modification and
upgrade for the San Bernardino County Sheriff Department's Bell 212 aircraft.
DUNCAN AVIATION entered into a five-year direct contract agreement with the Egyptian Air Force for aircraft maintenance services, and it doubled the size of its Teterboro repair station. The company also said it is working on an industry-first CPDLC/FANS installation at its Lincoln, Nebraska, facility. The STC will be completed by the end of 2015 and covers the Challenger 601. Duncan also said it has completed a total of 55 "C" inspections for all Dassault Falcon model aircraft at its Lincoln, Nebraska, and Battle Creek, Michigan, facilities. The company also completed a Falcon 2000 with an innovative stone floor from F/LIST that adds an elegant appearance to the cabin without the weight of full-sized stone.
SATCOM DIRECT became the first Inmarsat SwiftBroadband distribution partner to provision and enable the new SwiftBroadband high data rate service with Honeywell avionics, nearly doubling in-flight data speeds available to business aviation.
GARMIN said that installation of the GNC 255 NAV/COM and GTR 225 COM series is now more cost-effective for European-registered helicopters. The European certification reduces installation time and the cost associated with the installation of the GTR/GNC radios in a wide variety of helicopter types in Europe. In addition, Garmin announced the certification of a Part 25 ADS-B Out STC for the Learjet 60, which was achieved by Butler Avionics, and is now available to the Garmin dealer network.
CONSTANT AVIATION Rotable Exchange now offers a PMA'd kit for the Beechjet 400A/XP steps providing a reinforced solution.
CLAY LACY AVIATION opened 2.5 acres of new ramp space at its Van Nuys Airport FBO to provide additional space for arrivals and departures, accommodate overnight parking and reduce the frequency of aircraft towing.
STANDARDAERO completed its first certified ADS-B solution for a Falcon 50 aircraft at the company's Augusta, Georgia, MRO facility. The system incorporates CMD Flight Solutions' ADS-B DO260B upgrade and STC. In addition, StandardAero completed and certified its first Rockwell Collins Synthetic Vision System installation on a Falcon 2000 aircraft in October.
SPIRIT AERONAUTICS named

as a regional sales manager serving customers in the North Central Region that includes Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The company also celebrated its 15th year in business.
ROCKWELL COLLINS marked its 60th anniversary in the United Kingdom with the official opening of a new center of excellence in Winnersh, Wokingham, to support its commercial and military customers. In addition, Rockwell Collins signed its first Jet ConneX service agreement with VistaJet. Also, Jazeera Airways will be Rockwell Collins' first airline customer to experience wireless broadband connectivity with the company's new PAVES in-flight entertainment and connectivity solution.
CMD FLIGHT SOLUTIONS' AML STC now applies to more than 5,000 business
jets and personal aircraft. The company said it covers nearly every business jet and personal aircraft equipped with Rockwell Collins TDR-94/94D Transponders, paired with the Universal UNS-1(-)W FMS or Rockwell Collins GPS-4000S GPS Systems.
PENTASTAR AVIATION developed a solution to the FAA ADS-B Out mandate for the Gulfstream G-IV type aircraft using Rockwell Collins equipment.
MISSION AVIATION FELLOWSHIP honored Alaska Air Group and three families whose financial gifts allowed the ministry organization to purchase airplanes that will soon be impacting the lives of impoverished people in Mozambique and Central Asia. Some 200 people braved the cold wind to offer prayers of thanks for the new airplanes in a ceremony on Nov. 4.
GULFSTREAM AEROSPACE CORP. named MATTHEW LIU regional vice president of sales for greater China. In addition, the company opened a regional parts distribution center near Al Maktoum International Airport in United Arab Emirates.
JEPPESEN and the U.S. Air Force Air Mobility Command announced an agreement to provide iPad-based electronic flight bag services for approximately 1,160 Mobility Air Force aircraft, and more than 16,000 related Air Force iPad users. The Mobility Air Force aircraft will be equipped with Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro, the EFB solution that streamlines the use of navigational information for military fleet programs and commercial aviation operators.
HONEYWELL signed a definitive agreement to acquire Ontario, Canada-based COM DEV International, a satellite and space components provider, for an aggregate purchase price of approximately C$455 million ($345 million USD), net of cash and debt acquired.
HONEYWELL AEROSPACE announced the availability of the third software generation of its SmartPath Ground-Based Augmentation System following certification by the FAA.
EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT ASSOCIATION named EAA Chairman JACK PELTON chief executive officer, adding the CEO title and responsibilities to the position Pelton has held with the organization since October 2012.
SANDIA AEROSPACE was presented the NM Patriotic Employer award during the ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve) luncheon and awards ceremony in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The award is presented to companies that support American veterans in the National Guard and Reserve who have honorably served.
ESTERLINE CMC ELECTRONICS announced that Swiss International Air Lines is the first customer to select the company's PilotView Electronic Flight Bag factory option on the Bombardier CSeries aircraft.
B. COLEMAN AVIATION announced increased capabilities at its MRO. Located on Palm Beach International Airport in Florida, B. Coleman Aviation added qualified technicians and stocked on-hand spares to provide many of its Part 135 operators with a quick turn during the upcoming busy season. In addition, the company ventured into new territory during October by attending and exhibiting at the 10th International Aviation Trade Show & Congress in Cancun.
CHICAGO JET GROUP was awarded an STC for the Gulfstream G-IV series that includes the IVSP, G300 and G400 as well as the Boeing 767-200.
AERO CHARTER signed up for the Air Charter Safety Foundations Aviation Safety Action Program in the FAA's Central Region, becoming the first charter operator in the Central Region to enroll in the program.
FLYING COLOURS CORP. was awarded by Bombardier Business Aircraft the Authorized Service Facility Excellence Award in the North American category.
FIELD AVIATION extended its contract with the Swedish Coast Guard to provide engineering, maintenance and logistics support for the SCG's three Dash 8 Q300 Maritime Patrol Aircraft. The original contract began in 2009, and with this new agreement will continue for another five years, until 2021, with an option to renew for two additional years.
