December 2015

Colleagues,

Welcome back from what I hope was an enjoyable and relaxing  holiday weekend.

In the coming weeks, we will be hiring some new team members, so keep a look out for them and be sure to extend a warm CCTR welcome. I know we're all looking forward to the continued growth of the Center and each of our unique  contributions will help us along this path.

Finally, as you know, VCU is requesting all employees complete the 2015 Integrity & Compliance Education test by Friday. Please meet that deadline to ensure our team's non-compliance number is low.

Have an excellent week and do your best to stay dry and safe in this sudden dreary  weather we're experiencing.

Dr. Moeller Among Team that Advocated Change for Charge Master Rates

This past October the School of Medicine
Executive Committee  announced VCU
Health's approval of a revised Charge Master for  rates associated with clinical research.

This change reflects the tireless efforts of many, including F. Gerard Moeller, M.D.,  d irector of the VCU CCTR; Jerome F. Strauss III, M.D., Ph.D., dean of the VCU School of Medicine; and Dr. Francis Macrina, Ph.D., vice president for research and innovation for the VCU Office of Research and Innovation. They were among a team that pushed for the change to a  single standardized pricing rate based on current published rates  from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for all studies, regardless of the  funding source.

This new approach is in line with reasonable cost recovery efforts and will positively impact future budget negotiations and study activation times.
2015 Integrity & Compliance Education due December 4
Please complete your integrity and Compliance Education training/test before Friday, December 4

The modules and test can be accessed through Blackboard .
