America remembered the 100th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln in 1909 with a new penny. The last two States to join the Union, Arizona and New Mexico, in 1912 completed the Continental United States. So what would be better than a cross country highway from Times Square to San Francisco to be called the Lincoln Highway? It became a reality in 1913. Of the 63 miles in New Jersey, a large section of the Lincoln Highway in Hudson County was planned along its brand new carriage road called Hudson (now Kennedy) Boulevard.

This bus tour will leave from the Journal Square transportation Center at the Jackie Robinson statue and proceed North to Pershing Road in Weehawken, reverse course to Lincoln Park in jersey City to Kearny and reverse course again to return to the initial point at Journal Square. A narration of significant sites on the Highway will be by John Hallanan, New Jersey State Director of the Lincoln Highway Association. The cost will be $10 and registration is required.

Space is limited.

Tour is sponsored by the

Friends of Leonard Gordon Park
