Child Welfare Initiative
We made great strides in promoting resilience within the child welfare community this year, including:

1. We published Your Journey Together, a curriculum to build resilience in vulnerable children and families. We invite you to watch a recorded overview presentation, download an information packet, and learn about professional development opportunities.

2. The  Florida Institute for Child Welfare awarded us a grant to conduct research on the efficacy of the new Your Journey Together curriculum. The project is being implemented in partnership with Dr. Ana Leon, Professor Social Work at the University of Central Florida, and graduate student Shannon Holliker.

3.  We partnered with SCAN, an Indiana child welfare organization, to reach over 100 caseworkers with new materials to support their work. DCRC developed customized scripted lessons for caseworkers to use with families, recorded webinars to support case workers in understanding the materials, and delivered live training to support the supervisors in their oversight of this initiative.
Resource Enhancements
We listened and enhanced our resources to better meet your needs.

4. DECA-Clinical has been translated into Spanish on the e-DECA system. Check back at the research & results page of our website in the coming weeks for a paper summarizing the extensive process used to ensure equivalent results between the Spanish and English versions.

5. Conscious Discipline & e-DECA Assessment and Planning System is now available online. To learn more, we invite you to watch a recorded overview presentation. If you would like to login and try the system, click here to download a demo guide.

6.  DESSA strategies are available on Apperson's Evo Social & Emotional Learning platform. View a recorded webinar about Evo and the school-age strategies here, and click here for a free trial of the system.
Recognition
We're proud when professionals use & recommend our resources!

7. Both the DECA & DESSA were included in the Handbook of Social and Emotional Learning. The handbook compiles information from the best-regarded scientists in the field of social and emotional learning. The DESSA was identified as the top alignment measure, covering every core SEL competency highlighted.

8. Los Angeles Public Schools, the second-largest public school district in the USA, began piloting the DESSA.

9.  The YMCA of the USA recommended use of the DESSA in all YMCA programs across the country. More information about the YMCA's pilot program is available here.
Publications

10. One of Social Work Research's most widely-read articles this year was written by DCRC colleague Valerie Shapiro. We highly recommend her article, titled "Resilience: Have We Not Gone Far Enough? A Response to Larry E. Davis". Read the full text here.
