AEA Convention Exhibit Hall is Sold Out 

More than 130 companies plan to showcase their products and services during the AEA International Convention & Trade Show in Dallas, Texas. The four-day event takes place April 8-11, with the exhibit hall open the middle two days of April 9 and 10. The AEA recently announced that the exhibit hall is sold out, and attendees also will witness the unveiling of 30 new products introduced to the general aviation avionics industry during the event's New Product Introductions session, which takes place April 8. FAA logo 2014 General Aviation and Part 135 Activity Survey

The 37th annual General Aviation and Part 135 Activity Survey will begin in the near future. It is the Federal Aviation Administration's primary source of information about the size and activity of the general aviation and on-demand Part 135 fleet. The survey is conducted on behalf of the FAA by Tetra Tech, an independent research firm, and all survey responses are confidential. Tetra Tech would like to hear from everyone who receives an invitation to complete the survey to prepare accurate statistics on aviation activity. This award is available to an AEA member employee who plans to pursue their private pilot certificate and is valued at $3,500. 


College for you or college-age kids? How about a little help from the AEA Educational Foundation? AEA members are eligible for a scholarship that doesn't require enrollment in the field of aviation. Two scholarships will be given to members or their dependents to pursue a degree of their choice. Each award is valued at $1,000 and is applicable toward the 2015-16 school year.

ASPEN AVIONICS reached a milestone by selling its 500th Evolution Flight Display for helicopters. The company now has more than 9,000 total systems in service. The company also named MIKE CHURCHILL vice president of operations. The company also received FAA approval for the ATX100G transceiver with deliveries beginning immediately. 

FREEFLIGHT SYSTEMS launched its Equip-It 2020 program to provide ADS-B equipment for light general aviation aircraft that breaks the $2,000 barrier for a basic, but complete, system. The program features the RANGR Lite product line in two configurations -- an ADS-B Out (only) system listed at $1,995 (FDL-978 TXL), and an ADS-B In/Out system for $3,695 (FDL-978-XVRL). The company said it is committed to building 10,000 systems in an effort to reduce cost.

INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS & SUPPORT completed the flight testing and customer delivery of its NextGen Flight Management System on the C-130 aircraft. 

KITCHENER AERO AVIONICS was awarded an EASA STC for its glass-cockpit upgrade to the Eurocopter EC-120 helicopter. It previously received TCCA and FAA STCs.

ROCKWELL COLLINS acquired Pacific Avionics Pty. Ltd., a Singapore-based company specializing in technologies used for wireless information distribution, including in-flight entertainment and connectivity. In addition, Rockwell Collins introduced a Spanish language version of its Vector SMS software for its ARINCDirect customers.

CUTTER AVIATION named HEATHER WAHL director of human resources.

DUNCAN AVIATION plays host to its next free NextGen seminar on April 7 in Dallas, just prior to the AEA Convention. In addition, the company expanded non-destructive testing services to helicopter operators.

HONEYWELL and Inmarsat successfully tested over-the-air performance for Honeywell's JetWave MCS 8200 onboard aircraft hardware on Inmarsat's Global Xpress satellite network. 

BECKER AVIONICS ' new ATLASS ADS-B solution was chosen by Semco Maritime to manage offshore flight tracking. 

L-3 AVIATION PRODUCTS opened a new MRO facility in Bengaluru, India.

CLAY LACY AVIATION introduced the Bombardier Learjet 75 for charter in Los Angeles. In addition, the company's FANS 1/A+ solution for the Gulfstream GIV and GIVSP received FAA STC approval. 

GARMIN announced the availability of an online GTN Essential e-Learning course to help pilots maximize the benefits provided by the GTN 650/750 touchscreen avionics series. 

GULFSTREAM AEROSPACE named LEE ANNE TAIT vice president, quality. It also appointed LEDA CHONG senior vice president, strategic planning.

JEPPESEN teamed with AvPlan Electronic Flight Bag to integrate AvPlan EFB flight-planning capabilities with Jeppesen navigation information.

In 2009, General Aviation Caucuses were formed in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate to inform congressional members and staff about the importance of general aviation to the nation's economy and transportation system. Today, the House GA Caucus has grown to become one of the largest caucuses in the House of Representatives.
