Let's Fall in Love!

Valentine's Day is great time to spread caring, kindness and love -- and not just to your partner -- but to everyone! By putting more positive energy out there and random acts of kindness, you'll  draw more back to you. I see this all the time with my clients. For example, when they make the effort to smile at someone new at the coffee shop, they instantly become more magnetic and start drawing more people to them.

Now, if you are in a relationship-- every day should be Valentine's Day! But don't put too much pressure on yourself or others with expectations on February 14th. What makes a relationship work is the thoughtful, small, day to day gestures that show your husband, wife, girlfriend or boyfriend how much you care. The sweet little notes, the kisses and hugs, the baby talk, and in my example, a fresh sugar-free peanut butter cookie that my husband surprises me with! Ahh...that makes my day! Love is about the little steps and gestures and not just a few grand gestures.

To help you dream up a memorable Valentine's Day, I'm sharing a few ideas below in this newsletter! Lasting Connections also has a couple events coming up that I hope you will check out!

Valentine's Day is for Everyone!

If you are single, celebrate you singleness! Don't spend another minute moping around the house. Invite your friends for a night out and have fun! Here are some ideas to get you started:

For Single Women

Host a Girls Night. How about inviting a bunch of your girlfriends over for a special Valentine's Day event to celebrate your friendship? Just add in dessert, wine and imported cheese and you've got all the makings for a great event! Have everyone bring different kinds of desserts, wine and cheese. Watch a romantic movie or just talk. Be there to inspire and motivate each other as women and friends. Cherish being single! After, you'll have a fun and memorable Valentine 's Day that you got to spend with your besties! You can also go dancing with the girls! Always a ton of fun!!

Single Men

Host a Guys Night In. Grab some good friends. Get some premium whiskey and make or order up dinner at your place. Maybe play some poker or make it a taste and compare night with a blind whiskey or other fine spirit tasting. In moderation -- we want everyone to get home safely! If you're on the more active side, schedule a guys ski weekend since Valentine's Day falls on a weekend this year!

If You're in a Relationship

Take a hike! Spend it outdoors and enjoy the scenery. Plan to stop someone cozy for a meal on the way home.

For Guys in a long term relationship: If your girlfriend or wife is always cooking you dinner, doing laundry and all the chores -- maybe you want to do something for her this year! Clean the house, do the laundry, have candles all over, have someone babysit the kids that night and create a romantic evening with a 3 or 5 course dinner depending on your cooking skills. You can also order food from her favorite restaurant, and dessert from her favorite bakery.

Have a night-in theme: Choose Asian, Italian, Indian, and Mediterranean and cook a meal around that theme. Make a meal together -- something you haven't tried before. Add in soft music in the background and candles. Have a glass of wine. After the dinner, watch a movie, play a game, do something you both like to do and have dessert. Cuddle up and enjoy each other's company! If you have a gift for him or her, hide it somewhere and have them look for it around the house with little hints eventually leading to the bedroom!

Play stylist: Choose each others attire for dinner and get dressed together. (You can't decline each others' picks, by the way!) Later, take turns undressing each other.

Make it a double header. You've got all day, so why not take in two events? What if you don't care for basketball, but your main squeeze loves it? Surprise them with tickets to a game! Like wise, if your spouse loves musicals, surprise them with tickets to a show. Take one for the team -- you'll win you major brownie points!
